Topic: Everyone Please Read-How to post a bug

In an effort to keep tabs on bugs and clean them up efficiently, we have created this forum. It will be moderated by TY and Safekeeper. You guys are great with feedback but sometimes its hard for us to keep track of all the bugs because they are spread out in different threads, uncategorized, and sometimes the same bug is being reported. As such im starting this thread so everyone can post their bugs in the same format, but keep this area for bugs only, if its not a bug I will note it in ur thread as we need it clean. Pics are highly suggested! Start a new thread each time u have a category, for example:

If there's a problem with the MG15 rifle then you would create a thread called "MG15 buglist" and everyone would post in that thread so all MG15 bugs will be in one area.

IT IS CRITICAL that everyone follow the guidelines specifically.  If you just copy/paste a list of bugs for multiple things into a single thread then it'll be ignored.  If you post non bug reports on here they'll probably be deleted.

We're in a major bug hunting mode ATM and as such need to form clear lists for each item so we can hit them up in turn, rather than floating between all of them.

Thank you for setting this up, Blitz smile . Everyone, as he said, we're working on listing all the bugs in FS so that we can fix as many of them as possible, preferably all of them, before 1.2 goes live.

Please do follow Blitz' instructions in the post above when submitting, it'll make everything so much easier for us.

It also should be noted if the bug involves crashes, lag or any other glitch you suspect may be hardware related; that you need to post your system specs (CPU, GFx card (make sure you include whether it is Nvidia/Radeon), RAM, Sound card (If a sound based issue), Operating system etc. ) As well as your EXACT grapphics levels saying "my settings are on High" doesn't help much, you need to tell us exactly what your settings are, (A screenshot may be easiest)

Some suggestions:

1.)
The easiest way to post the gfx settings is to copy & paste the content of video.con.
Video.con is in "C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Username\Eigene Dateien\Battlefield 2142\Profiles\000X"  and you can open it with the Windows-Editor (or Wordpad, hell, even with MS-Word)
This it how it looks:

There maybe more than one subdirectory in "Profiles" - each is for one soldier, the name of the soldier is in Profile.con.

Example:
I have two subdirectorys in "Profiles", 0001 and 0002.
In 0001 is my BF 2142 Soldier, in 0002 is my FirstStrike Soldier - so any settings i use in FirstStrike i are in 0002.

2.)
There is a freewaretool called "debugwiz". It's very useful after a bluescreen to find out wich driver is rotten. It's a graphic interface for the MS-Tool to check the Memory-dump.

Lately i have had a bluescreen during playing BF2, and i used debugwiz to check the memory dump:

Probably caused by : ati3duag.dll ( ati3duag!pDdHslSharedMemCalloc+b1f07 )

Clearly a part of the ati driver, and updating the driver may be helpful  wink

Speaking about drivers: the version of the driver and the type of the graphic card (AGP, PCI, Laptop, Overclocked, passiv cooled,...) is a very important information wink

Many "Bugs" are fixed by using a newer - or an older - driver.
Example: After a new ATI Driver Release many Users with X1950 AGP Graphics Cards have trouble, using an older driver until the next releas was a quick fix.
