Topic: Map Suggestions..

Hi I love the mod. I can't wait for the next release and although I know Hoth and Space Endor will be in the mod, I'm wondering if the following 5 will be in it as well at some point in the future. I think they should be because they're diverse and are familier locations from the movies.

Yavin IV - After Episode IV when the Empire invades the planet for revenge against the Rebels for destroying the Death Star. It appeared in Rogue Squadron and Galactic Battlegrounds. Not sure which EU novel it first appeared in though. The Imperials would have to push the Rebels to the Massassi (sp?) Temple with X-wings and TIEs fighting above.

Cloud City - After Episode V the Imperials have left garrison there. It would primarily be infantry based with flyable cloud cars. : )

Bespin - This would be in the same period as the Cloud City map but would be more fighter based. Maybe the Imperials and Rebels would have to protect their own Tibanna Gas Platforms like in Rogue Squadron and whichever side has all of their gas containers destroyed first loses.

Tantive IV - The first battle at the beginning of Episode IV. It could be like the map from Galactic Conquest where the Rebels would have to push the Imperials to the Star Destroyer Bridge in order to escape by deactivating the tractor beam, even though obviously in the movie the Imperials crushed them.

Coruscant - After Episode VI when the New Republic forces finally take it from the Imperial Remnant. I know it would be hard because of the massive amount of buildings there but it could be a really small area.

Also in general I love all the maps but I think there should be 2-3 more space maps even after Space Endor, because in the current version there's only Taloraan, Hoth and the Convoy space maps. The space maps themselves I think should be unique so that they won't all become repetitive like they were in Battlefront II. For example, in Space Endor maybe the Imperial Commander can use the Death Star as a deployable, but obviously the charge up period would be really long. However the space maps so far are unique unlike Battlefront so that's a good thing. Also I think the space maps would be much more fun if you could man the turrets of the star destroyer from the bridge of the ship. But all in all I think this mod is very fun. Great job guys. But I can't wait to see the Clone Wars part, that is if there is going to be one.

Hoth will be our next major undertaking as it is what you the community want, and it is what we want to see in game a lot too, but after that? Who knows which next big projects we'll be tackling next?

I know that Hoth and it's AT-AT walkers is something of a holy grail for the devs, but to be honest, I much prefer a good old infantry ding-dong to a combined arms map.

I love the idea of Tantive IV. It was one of my favourite SWBF2 maps, and the idea of expanding it to a double objective map with the Imperials trying to control all sections of the Tantive IV while the Rebels try to break out to disable a tractor beam control really appeals to me.

The Imperial takeover of Bespin could be another infantry-based Imperial assault affair with a scenario of Bespin Security (another faction?!) defending a number of landing platforms for a set period of time to ensure a successful evacuation.

What about Nar Shaadar? I can't think of a lore-accurate scenario, but a high-rise buildings and walkways map along the lines of 'Nar Shaadar Streets' from JKII: Jedi Outcast would be a cool infantry-only map.

All three of these could be fairly small – no bigger than Mos Entha. In my general ignorance of these things, I'm assuming that there's less work involved in producing a small map with no new elements other than buildings and textures...

It depends a whole lot on the assets required to be honest, for instance a city based map will take a lot of work as instead of having a big terrain model to cover most of the map you'll need individual static objects for all the buildings needed to effectively populate it. Ask any of the people who worked on Mos Espa. I'd love to do some maps based on Bespin Cloud City, but as I have just detailed above that would be a massive undertaking, but a rewarding one that I hope we'll get to work on one day. Tantive IV on the other hand being such an enclosed environment (the interior of a spacecraft) and being mostly lots of identical corridors lends itself to being quite modular in design, and would be a small map by its very nature and quite easy to do, so this is something I would definitely like us to tackle soon. But as of right now our focus is solely on Hoth as it is a major map and something we really need to get right, so all our resources are dedicated to this endeavour right now. But don't worry if you have a preference for infantry based combat, remember that any Battle of Hoth map will have to feature Echo Base, so it won't all just be about Snowspeeders and All Terrain Armoured Transports.

There is no point in doing that, we'll provide all our own assets, besides Cloud City buildings tend to be much smoother curvy designs with some art deco influences thrown in there too for good measure. So they really wouldn't be suitable anyway.
