Here is where the problem starts- I installed the newest launcher and opened it- but it then told me, "Contacting to EA masterserver."

Anyone know a solution to this...or am I just stupid and missed something.

Here are some suggestions:

Try the most updated win 10 drivers.   Try the drivers on the system site and those of the graphic card manufacturer.

Try using Win 7 drivers.

You can also try installing DX9.  Win 10 comes with DX12, which is not 100% compatible with software that was designed for DX9.   This trick allows older version of 3ds max to work with windows 10.

I have installed BF2142 from Origin, patched to 1.50 and 1.51. Used the replacement .exe from here:

To load up 2142 successfully, register and create a profile (also have a profile from yesteryear saved anyway ) Also played a round or two of 2142 to make sure everything works. So the BF2142 side of things is good.

Installed FS 1.6 plus launcher. Fire up the launcher and installed updates. When I hit launch (after setting video preferences) the screen goes black for a few minutes, then crahses with an error message. The only way I can get FS running is by going through the 2142 community tab. Would just be nice to get the thing running correctly from the launcher.

Yes, the launcher, FS .exe and 2142 .exe are set to run as admin and compatability.

Vanilla 2142 loads up OK.

Launcher updater says updates available but not being applied because they need to be checked first. Then says "Current state is checked". But I already previously installed the patches OK though the launcher.

Launcher gives "unhandled exception" in Win7. Turning on XP compatibility stops this.

I'm starting the launcher as admin, and also set the 2142 shortcut to be admin ... BTW, never seen that recommended before anywhere, seems confusing.

Windowed and full screen modes give crash or "runtime error". I tried various resolutions in the launcher drop down list but that did not fix it.

I'm reluctant to do a full 2142 reinstall but there is a possibility, I suppose, that I originally installed the wrong 1.51 patch. If you think this might be the problem I'll give it a go.

One final thing. I appreciate you are a small mod team. I love what you do ! But I wonder if the installation process and launcher needs tidying up ? For example I am missing 1440x900 resolution and there is a very little text and help pop-up's in the launcher to show what is going on.

However, you can't get this far if you are reloading or installing BF2142, because you can't set up a profile without logging into the master account server, which doesn't exist anymore.  So, it's a catch22 in this situation.  You need an offline profile to play singleplayer, but the game requires initial logon to the now gone master account server.   

A verified solution is here.  I have created and tested this generic profile.  The player name is 'singleplayer'

NOTE:  You still have to disconnect from the internet in order to be able to bypass the master account server login.  The game will try to login, fail and then give the option to play with an offline account.   After selecting the offline account, you can connect back to the internet.   But when you do select no when the game offers to connect to the master account server.

Unzip into your desktop or wherever is easiest, then move the Battlefield 2142 folder to your 'My Documents' folder.

Game Ranger issues

Note:  Game Ranger will disable the ability to play singleplayer, because it's backs up the existing profile and makes a custom one.  You can use this generic profile to play singleplayer again.  Just delete or rename the Game Ranger Bf2142 profile and replace it with the generic one from the link above.

Customizing the player name

Now, if you want to customize the name to your own name, here is how:

In the generic profile, in the My Documents\Battlefield 2142 folder open up the \Profiles folder and edit Global.con (notepad is fine for editing) and change singleplayer to the name you want.

Now, open up the \0001 folder and edit Profile.con and change all references to Singleplayer to name you want.

Vanilla 2142 works fine and I even have the Northern Expansion SP mod working well. I've checked the firewall and made sure both the launcher and mod are allowed through fully. I've checked the FAQ and the done some google fu to see if this has been asked before. I havent found it sadly, so any help at all would be appreciated!

Well.. I've installed FS and I wanted to play it but...
Is there a way to play this mod without EA account?
Because my account is very old and it was on another e-mail which doesn't work now.
Or I have to buy new CD Key?

Regardless the real reason I'm posting here is I was having an issue with the new launcher.
It would start to launch the game and then the game would crash much like vanilla bf2142 would do if I forgot to run it with +widescreen 1.
However the mod still launched just fine with the old launcher. After some fiddling around I found the config xml file for the new launcher and added that launch parameter manually(the +widescreen 1).
Now it works but I'm sure that kind of advanced modification was not intended for the normal user.
Any thoughts?

For the record my resolution is 1680x1050 however I tried almost all of the resolutions in the new launcher in windowed and fullscreen, all crashed before I added the widescreen parameter to the config.

Well I watched the livestream and it made me want to check out the new release but it has been years since I've played.

My question is, is the v1.5 release the same as the 1.55 release that the Downloads Page has on it? If not, where do I get 1.55?

Also the launcher has a setting to set your resolution, but does it also add the widescreen command?
