Theres a campaign on atm you have to register here http://nictest.enjin.com/forum/m/852257 … ter/page/1 It gets the most amount of people playing.

Though generally around 8pm gmt and after most days will be when you find other players although mostly on sundays saturdays and fridays.

But to answer your prolific games question -

Is this Galactic Conquest II?
No. Some similarities exist between the two mods, and some of the FS developers are former GC developers, but the mod was founded independently of GC, has a different gameplay vision, and is not in any way a sequel.
As a side note, you may feel that First Strike's space maps remind you of the old X-Wing series. This is no coincidence - the FS devs love the X-Wing series dearly and have sought to capture some of its atmosphere in their space maps.

Well I tried a manual Install and it worked, took a while but it worked! And yeah I'm glad it wasn't FS's fault because it seems picky already as it is unfortunately! I hope to see you guys in game, what times do people play normally? And thank you all for helping!

Huh, that sounds like something is stuck in your registry...

If you got the EA Download Manager (or Origin now) version of the game try running the setup exe in windows xp compatibilty. (I don't know whether that's possible with the dvd version) If that doesn't work I guess you have to manually uninstall Battlefield 2142 using this official guide:

Basicly you should delete all folders and registry entries associated with Battlefield 2142.
Installing battlefield, patching and dealing with all its problems is half the fun

Well so I decided to reinstall BF2142, of course now looking at the image, I realize I didn't have to, but now it won't install, it hangs on to a certain file for about 30 seconds then crashes with an error saying "Failed to install, please try again from the beginning."

This keeps getting better and better, I'm so frustrated...

It worked for me after I did this:

In short:

Download this file if you're running windows
Place it in a folder, it doesn't matter where. Just try to keep things organised ;-)
Run pbsetup.exe
Click 'Add a game' and add BF2142
Click 'Check for updates' and let it update and it should work

Try updating Punkbuster, that software is a notorious pain in the neck. Usually manually updating it sorts things out.

Well I reinstalled BF2142 and now I'm having a punkbuster issue, it kicks me after about 30 seconds of being in-game and theres no error.

I downloaded 1.50 and 1.51 then installed FS.

I would confirm that 2142 was starting and working perfectly first.
Join latest patch 1.51 (2GB version) servers, play, etc).

If 2142 is working perfectly, then copying and renaming the 2142 .exe should work.

You might check the version listed in the registry too (as above), and confirm it actually states what you did in fact install patch-wise (the 2 GB 2142 1.51 patch I assume).
