This is the first release where the AI from FSX has been integrated to the point where most of the FSX maps can be played in Firststrike now. Panorama is the only one that crashed on me.

Here are my Mac launchers that makes it easier to start - you can just double click and start directly in BF2142 or First Strike. This avoids having to start mods from the community/custom games menu within BF2142. These can also be downloaded here. https://public.me.com/madmac73

1. To install Download and double click the BF Config Files Installer
2. Download BF2142 & First Strike Launchers.aip - unzip and move to games folder

@ Dnamro I have tested your zip file of FS mod on a clean install and works fine - Thanks for that! Interesting about the single player maps as I compared your folder before updating to mine (that I installed using the .exe installer) seems to be exactly the same size? If anything its a bonus if extra maps are included.

Got it Sorted! I have created a Mac Launcher that starts FS without have to go through BF2142/Community/Custom Games menus.

I can now start FS and BF2142 with a double click. Now just have to find a FS server with some people in it

In Windows you can start BF2142 with command line parameters. I don't know how you do that on a MAC.

Thanks for that zip file. I will try it out on a clean install. I'm curious about the command line.

Do you mean windows command line, or are you right clicking the shortcut and inserting in properties or operating commands so how from within BF2142?

It may be possible on the mac to use the Terminal.app or make an applescript to do something similar if I knew what commands it needs to launch first strike it may be quite simple to create an Mac Launcher.

Ok, I will zip it up and post it.

1.51 patch took DICE over a year. MAC version of the patch will probably take about that long as well. But you only need it to play online. I use a dual install without the 1.51 patch for singleplayer, since the DICE 1.51 patch broke the AI commander (more impact on BF2142 over First Strike) and squad leader joins.

The BF2142 command line options don't work on MAC? That is what the launcher uses to launch the mod. I use desktop link that uses the command line options to launch first strike on my PC:

+menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +modPath mods/Firststrike

+menu 1 is always set to 1
+fullscreen 0 (I set it to zero to run in a window)

A zip file would be great and make it a lot easier as most mac users probably don't have the luxury of a windows install as well.

The easier it is to install the more likely there will be of more mac users joining in on the action. As it is you still have to install the update for BF2142 1.51 PC version as there is no official mac update for this yet and likely may not ever be an official update. EA have dropped the ball on this one.....

I could probably do something similar for a mac zip file for BF2142 v1.51 update. This would mean that there would only be two files and steps to install FS 1.55.

The only other thing to note is that FS must be started from the in game community menu from BF2142 as the FS launcher and updater won't run natively in macosx or in wineskin.

Thanks MadMac for working on this. As a workaround for other mac playesr I can zip up my First strike folder and post it if there is anyone else that wants to try getting First strike to work on a MAC.

Just incase you didn't know - I have this mod v1.55 working on MacosX 10.7.2.

You need to first install BF2142 1.51 update by following these instructions in my post found here. http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/5294937.page

Then you should be able to install FS from either through wineskin or windows. A mac installer would be easier but would require a bit of work to put together.
