Gonna see it again on Monday, IMAX this time (so that should give you a hint as to how good ).

I did a rewatch too of the original trilogy (not really necessary as I know that schtick by heart now, but still any excuse eh?). Watched Star Wars for the first time with my 3 yr old and she loved it. Didn't watch TESB because saw that recently when we did Star Wars Secret Cinema earlier in the year (in fact the same mate I went to that with joined me last night for the TFA midnight show, so we've been on something of a Star Wars Odyssey together this year he and I ), and just did a solitary re-watch of ROTJ which was timed to perfection with my mate's arrival for the cinema visit, quite literally the end music kicked in the very moment he texted me to let me know he was outside my front door. So a few beers later and it was time for the Force to Awaken.

Though I'm thoroughly spoiled on the plot, last friday I decided to avoid the spoiler sites I've been going to every day. I did catch the premiere event and read some initial impressions from people. It sounds like we have a real Star Wars movie on our hands!

Been staying off social media since the premiere! Watched ANH earlier today. Gonna watch ESB tonight and probably parts of ROTJ (only rewatched it about a month ago so still pretty fresh)

Oh, and there have been interesting articles going about this weekend speculating what the lack of Luke footage in any of the new Star Wars trailers might mean, and how a recent interview with Mark Hamill had him reveal that he was custodian of a secret regarding TFA of "No Luke, I am your Father." level proportions, but he's keeping tight lipped about it. There is even a clause in his contract which states if the secret is revealed early due to him he looses a shedload of money, so they're paying him extra to keep schtum about it. Still, he managed to sit on that TESB secret for over a year before that movie came out, so I'm sure this secret is in good hands.

Prediction for opening act based on ESB dialogue further down . It includes my guess on a relationship between 2 chars so if you're very sensitive to a potential spoiler (if you can call it that) squint your eyes and just scroll past the rest of my post. I've turned the font grey (spoiler tag not working) so it doesn't show up that badly   - you're missing out on my cracking humour tho!

Rey: Han, old daddy (or uncle), do you read me?

Han Solo: Loud and clear, my kid (or my brother in law's kid). What's up?

Rey: Well, I finished my circle. I don't pick up any Falcon readings.

Han Solo: There isn't enough Falcon on this dust ball to fit through a poorly thought out thermal exhaust port . Sensors are useless. I'm going back.

Rey: Right. I'll see you shortly. There's a TIE Fighter that hit the ground near here. I want to check it out. It won't take long.

Well from the look of everything we have seen so far this not only looks great, but seems to hitting all the right emotional beats too, the dialogue also sounds like how people should talk rather than wooden pick up lines involving how coarse sand is.

Still a bit disappointed that they have gone with another Death Star type ultimate peril maguffin, rather than something more original and new, but anyone notice the Death Star like trench in that snow planet aerial battle shot? Wouldn't it be awesome if they hid the construction of their new Death Star (AKA Starkiller Base, name of the base, the super weapon, or both?) within what appeared to be a normal planet? A little heavy seismic activity to shake off the thin disguising crust of rock, snow and ice and you're soon in business with your shiny new battle-station super weapon. That would a sequence I'd pay good money to see.

Well to be honest everything I've seen on this movie so far I'd pay good money to see, repeatedly.
