Here's the trailer for Star Wars: Rebels season 2, and it is bleeding awesome!

All I can say is just, wow! The first season was good, but with this single trailer they've really brought the big guns...

Well just watch it and see:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWJmS5R-U3U

Basically season 2 becomes the proper sequel to The Clone Wars series. Disappointed that you didn't see what happened in the end to some of your favourite Clone Wars characters? Be disappointed no more. I don't want to say more as it'll spoil the trailer, better just to watch, and the introduction of Darth Vader as the big bad also just elevates the threat level so much more and raises the stakes. Star Wars: Rebels just got a whole lot bigger.

Together with the great news about the final episodes of Clone Wars finally getting their airing, here is some news on Star Wars: Rebels, it looks like we're getting introduced to the lead character of the show.

Kanan a Jedi survivor trying to keep a low profile, so he doesn't use his lightsaber at first, and is more of a gunslinger Han Solo type, (Dave Filoni nicknames him the Cowboy Jedi) but apparently as the show progresses he'll have to take up his lightsaber again and return to his Jedi roots. Could be a quite interesting arc. Starting off disillusioned with the massacring of the Jedi Order and having to leave that life behind, but then having to rediscover himself and become a Jedi again. Plus they kinda get Han Solo and Luke Skywalker in one package which has to be value for money. Design wise they've gone for a kinda Kyle Katarn (lead character from the old Dark Forces & Jedi Academy games) look. He's voiced by Freddie Prince Jr which I have no opinion on really. This could be interesting and you can get a feel for the direction this show will go in based off this guy's arc. We'll see I guess.

Here's the video article on the character:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXuFi2vH_PQ

So here's another Star Wars: Rebels update.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX1uCXVg9ug

Some cool stuff on show here, mainly showing off their take on rendering out the Empire, the show is apparently set 16 years after Revenge of the Sith so things shouldn't be all that removed from what we see in A New Hope. They also show the key villain the Inquisitor, a Sith who has been tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down the last of the Jedi. Not all that impressed with him at first glance, looks like a cross between Darth Maul and Assajj Ventress with a little of that evil Son from the Force hamsters race thrown in for good measure. Watching the video you do see a lot of unused concept designs being taken forward such as a Scout Walker design developed for Empire which never got used other than in comics (I used it once for one of my stories once a long time ago too). There was also concept art for what looked like Alderaan in the background too, so unsurprisingly it looks like some of this show will take place there. On a positive note most of the Clone Wars crew are back on board for this so hopefully we'll still get that gold standard quality of show. It is also due to air in Autumn 2014, so hopefully that means that there should be plenty of space for a decent end to the Clone Wars before this comes along. Fingers crossed.

Well, this is something I'd love to see. My wish is that the show will happen over a few years, starting before episode IV, and then going all the way through the original trilogy and a bit beyond. Then, they might do the Galactic Civil War some justice, which is completely overshadowed by the Clone Wars unfortunately. I also hope the art style will be different than the one in The Clone Wars show, the facial animations weren't that great in my opinion, and they are key to communicating emotion.

And speaking of The Clone Wars, even though I haven't watched much of it, I do hope they give it an end. It isn't fair for the fans if something they have invested time and money into isn't completed.

So here is the news that a lot of us have been waiting for. What is to replace the Clone Wars animated series? Check out the link to the article below which introduces us to Star Wars: Rebels, a new animated show from the same production team behind Clone Wars to be set in the era between Episodes III & IV, giving us a new animated show much more in the vein of the original trilogy, which is very much what we've all been after for a while now. Joining Dave Filoni and his team will be Simon Kinberg, a name linked heavily with the new Star Wars movies now entering production, so this sounds like good news indeed, the first Lucasfilm/Disney Star Wars production, slated for an Autumn 2014 release.

The only downside to this news is that any mention of Clones Wars was curiously absent from this announcement. So are we getting a season 6 of Clone Wars to wrap things up on that show? A series of mini movies or something at least if not a full season? The Clone Wars announcement did mention that the show was winding down, not ending, so I assume we must be getting some form of (hopefully satisfying) conclusion before moving onto the new, or fans of that show will not be happy Womprats.

Anyhow, enough of me wittering on, here's the link:

http://starwars.com/news/new-animated-s … -2014.html

So here is a place to let the speculation commence. What are people's thoughts so far on the new show? Personally I can't wait, as long as they sort out a good end for Clone Wars first I'll be happy. I'm also loving the fact that they seem to be looking very much to Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for visual inspiration which can't be a bad thing. Seeing those proto Star Wars design spring to life alone will make this worth a watch. But what else are we going to see. The era sounds like it'll be covering a lot of the same ground as the recent Force Unleashed games, would you like to see elements shown in that appear in the show? Or is that a game series best forgotten? Interesting times ahead.
