If you ara doing a lot of ALT+TAB while playing FIRSTSTRIKE mod, then maybe you are bothered because the icon in ^windows taskbar is from BF2142 game. This "petty inconvenience" can be easily fixed like this:
1) Copy BF2142.exe to FirstStrike.exe;
2) Do this procedure http://www.wikihow.com/Change-the-Icon-for-an-Exe-File on FirstStrike.exe;
3) Fix your destktop icon (for starting FIRSTTRIKE) to the new FirstStrike.exe.

Note: BF2142.exe and FirstStrike.exe must be at same location/folder.
I am sure, Dnamro will include such an fixed FirstStrike.exe exe file in his next release/installer.

Thanks for the tutorial Mikimuster. We have a full public mod installer that still uses the launcher updater.

I am just not using the updaters to update the test version. It updater still works as a launcher allowing players to set options from the launcher such as wide screen or windowed mode.

Yes, you can play the "FIRSTSTRIKE mod" local LAN with DETHKLOK CLAN's "NEW STATS SERVER EXE".

This means, that we can play via Tunngle, Hamachi or via server's public IP

New HOW-TO install, FIRSTSTRIKE mod

1) bf2142 version 1.51 is required to run FIRSTSRIKE mod. Please read this http://forums.fsmod.com/viewtopic.php?id=11130

2) Then you need the latest mod installer:
- for this tutorial I used this installer: "FirstStrike16_1SP_Beta.exe" (size=1.5 GB), If you want the link for this download, you must PM Dnamro!
- but, currently the latest officially published is http://www.moddb.com/mods/first-strike/ … -installer

3) So, after you have playable bf2142, 1.51 version, you should only:
- install that setup "FirstStrike16_1SP_Beta.exe";
- and create desktop shortcut for starting the mod.

NOTE: The game launcher/updater is not supported any more. You don't need launcher to lounch (or to play) this mod!

4) When installing "FirstStrike16_1SP_Beta.exe" ignore that two messages/options (see below pics), because they don't work (hoppetuly Dnamro will fix this in his next release):

5) HOW-TO create desktop shortcut:
- mouse right click on your BF2142 shortcuts(this shortcut should already be on your desktop after installing the base bf2142 game) & chose COPY from dropdown/context menu;
- find empty place on your desktop and press right mouse button + chose PASTE option from dropdown menu;
- now press right mouse button on this new/copied shortcut, rename it to "First Strike";
- press right mouse button on this shortcut again and choose PROPERTIES, then add at the end of the "Target":

 +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/FirstStrike

6) Now the "target" string in you shortcuts should look somehow like this:

7) To change shortcut's icon, please use "friststrike.ico" located in /mods/FirstStrike/ folder.
