Appreciate it, always good to see a fan and community member wanting to give something back, would be great to get this back into the multiplayer arena again too, which might well be a possibility if we go down the standalone route.

Yes my good fellows. #1 on my to-list for next week is writing up the "for Dummies" to include but not limired to, Do's and Don'ts during install, FYIs about WHY we do certain things with the file structure and so on. I will be reaching out next week for feedback from current members of the community to add to the overall package. I am also strongly considering hosting a bunch of the needed files. The space needed is not that huge and the traffic to download is not that huge either. Would be nice for folks to find everything they need at one easy, virus-free location. Just a few things on my list of things to do here to benefit the community. Peace (and thanks for the AWESOME GAME)

That would be very helpful as I can't get the game to run at all. Vanilla works but crashes mid-game at random times.

Yeah, that is grand news. Always good to see new fans getting the opportunity to play and experience our game. Spread the word far and wide.

You want to see what it was like in the heyday when you'd have servers chock full of live players. Still I think you'll find our bots can still provide a worthy challenge.

Awesome news! A detailed tutorial based on your experience upgrading from windows 10 would be great. I upgraded to windows 10, but already had BF2142 installed.

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried running all 3 updates in Administrator mode like 3 times a piece. FINALLY, the 1.50 agreed to run and did so. Then I was able to run 1.51 and it was a success. Successfully ran game in space battle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will be replacing FS 1.6 with the Beta tomorrow evening and giving that a run.
The special exe that bypasses internet sign-in, and takes you right to the screen where you select "singleplayer" as your player, worked flawlessly as well!
Needless to say, I am relieved and really, really grateful for the attention from the devs team/MODS !!!
What a gorgeous game!!!
PUMPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry you're having so much trouble with this Firemcd, hopefully if we do decide to move forward with a standalone version it'll make all these issues a moot point.

Running 1.4, then 1.5. then 1.51
Hoping and praying I do not get told again that i already have the newest version.

HALF of the problem is solved! I was able to succeed in tricking the Vanilla BF2142 into getting far enough along that i could go into the "community" tab of BF2142 to check my version and SURE ENOUGH, even though the DVD Install had communicated to the 1.51 Patch installer that it was ALREADY the most current version, in fact, in the "Community" version check trick it lists my FirstStrike as version "1.6" and my BF2142 as "1.0"
This explains alot! So how do I update to 1.51 Patch if the DVD install is incorrectly reporting it is newest version and the 1.51 Patch installer keeps giving me the brushoff text box because it thinks it is already newest version? Not a complete moron, I thought the reason it was doing that during the Patch installer was that the version on the DVD was already up to 1.51, when it clearly is not.

Unfortunately, since EA has dropped support of BF2142, it has made it difficult to to get it to work, requiring additional hurdles. Which is one of the reasons I am looking into the the possibility of releasing First Strike as a stand alone game.

The link I sent you is the new Beta singleplayer version of First Strike. It is a full mod and replaces the current public version of First Strike.

I have tested First Strike with Windows 10 and did not have any issues. I have only tested installing the digital download version of BF2142. I have not tested installing the disk version on a windows 10 system. I did have issues with patching the disk version of BF2142 on a windows 7 system with the error that a newer version already exists. I think it was a conflict between the digital download version and the disk version, because I have not heard of the issue popping up otherwise, but it's possible it could be an issue with windows 10. EA Origin no longer sells or supports the game and I have not found a solution for the upgrade issues. However, like I said before, First Strike will run with 1.5 version of BF2142.

Make sure you are running BF2142 in XP compatibility mode. Right click on the shortcut to the BF2142 game and choose properties. In the compatibility tab, click on Run this Program in compatibility mode for and choose windows XP Service Pack 3. Also select to run this program as administrator.

Now, find where your game is installed and replace the BF2142.exe with the one from the link that I posted earlier. This will allow the game to run without having to disable the internet.

Next in your personal document folder, extract this default BF2142 profile. This will set up an offline account to use.

Yes, i have done everything to the letter as prescribed both inside the video you mentioned and numerous other things i searched here on the forum.
One solution apparently missing from my launcher is the "Arguements" entry box where you can insert "+widescreen 1 ".
I DO select the resolution in the launcher.
NOTHING WORKS! No matter what I try I get the error window I posted in above reply.
Is there any chance this has anything to do with Windows 10?
I would also be willing to send screengrabs of my file structure to whomever would like to take a look at it.
P.S. is this 1.6 the same as the "News" mentioned "play testing the new singleplayer focused version of First Strike" ? ( Is this the "Single Player Mini Mod" ? )
If not, maybe I could get that working?
Very in the dark about all of it, never having experienced a single moment of gameplay yet.
Willing to try anything at this point and I have done a fair amount of Alpha and Beta testing in the past.

Frustrated and tearing my hair out......6 hours in Installing, and re-installing, try this exe, that exe, uninstall 1.5, install 1.6, uninstall 1.6, install beta, uninstall beta. Will not even run at all now. Every single attempt starts with several black screens flashing in and out, after 3-5 seconds it ends with windows white error window "FirstStrike has stopped working"
#1 BF2142 is a brand new unopened DVD purchased directly from Amazon with all plastic shrink wrap and seals intact when I received it. It installed without any trouble at all.
#2 At ALL TIMES I am running as administrator.
#3 I have tried all versions, properly installed to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods folder in my C drive. The launcher/exe finds the files it needs, it just will not run.
#4 I am NOT running a wonky, out of date rig. I have;
Clean LEGIT upgrade install of Windows 10 Home-Fully Updated

2.50 gigahertz AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core processor 64-bit ready
Multi-core (4 total) Not hyper-threaded

8192 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory (Backed up by 16Gb readyboost USB)

Why will this game run for everyone else, but not for me? I am so NOT a NOOB! I can tear apart laptops and PCs in my sleep, build, test, benchmark, you name it. ALL of my other games run flawlessly!

UPDATE; I uninstalled BF2142 both through Uninstaller and Manual delete of remaining folders, Then did a fresh Install. Did fresh Install of FS 1.6 and FS Launcher 1.6.6a and I am back to getting the following screen again when I run Launcher as Administrator;

Here is a BF2142.exe that bypasses the master account server. Copy it over FirstStrike.exe to use with the launcher:

FirstStrike should work with BF2142 1.5 or 1.6, so you should not need to update.

Check your PMs. I will send you a copy of the new Beta version to test out.

Also, this is the latest version of the launcher:

Note that the updater portion won't work with the beta version of the mod.
