This idea would make the Jar Jar character actually make sense. As is, an idiot character that rises to General and senator was ridiculous. But as a highly intelligent character pretending to be an idiot so he can get intel on the plans of the Jedi would make a good story arc. Is it possible that Lucas intended this for Jar Jar, but then reconsidered due to the overwhelming negative reaction from the fans towards the Jar Jar character?
