Well, that is the exact SP problem that I chased for about a year after the Master account server went down. The game was designed to play with an online account all the time. I believe it was actually designed with this crash bug when playing with an offline account to help prevent piracy. Every once in a while I have actually seen a bot running around without a weapon. I had given up until the Revive team restored the online account for BF2142, which made FirstStrike playable again.

Actually the story is a bit more than what I described. First Strike 1.6 has always worked well for me with minimal or no crashes most times - this was using the Revive version of BF2142.

But my problems started after I created another separate installation of BF2142 and First Strike 1.6 with my own (not Revive) copy of BF2142 (I was hoping to have a separate installation which would enable me to play SP without the need for internet connection - using downloaded purpose made profile from the internet). Though this separate and simultaneaous installation of BF2142 works well, the First Strike was crashing as described in OP. So I uninstalled this, and also the other Revive installation to start clean again. Ran CCleaner to clean registry after that, than made a totally fresh install of Revive BF2142 and First Strike 1.6 again (plus the manual 1021 and 1022 patches) - unfortunately the problem still persisted.

Out of desperation, I installed first Strike 1.4 and the FS minimod (thanks to your old post on Battlesingleplayer.com) - and this at least works for a few rounds/maps before crashing once in a while.

FS 1.6 crashing to desktop

Hi! I have been playing FS 1.6 singleplayer on BF 2142 Revive for the past 3 months or so with no problems.

Last 2 nights suddenly I am starting to crash to the desktop once a map finish loading or when pressing 'deploy' to start the game in singleplayer.

I uninstalled FS 1.6 & BF 2142, removed all files and did a fresh reinstall of BF 2142 & FS 1.6 -> but still having the same problem.
Somehow Bandomeer, Nesmazzda, the two Rhen Var maps and Null maps works fine, but I think all the rest are still crashing to the desktop upon finishing loading.

Any ideas on how to fix this 'sudden' problem (when everything was fine last 3 months) ?
