I like to imagine Vaders thought process in Rouge One:

"Yeah so what I'm going to do is turn off all the lights and then I'm going to sneak in and give those dirty rebels a nasty fright. First I'm going to make sure to turn off my suits respiration and make sure all my chest lights are off. I'm going to stand in the middle of the corridor for a bit, strike a pose, and then turn on my lightsaber and mess stuff uuuuuup. Man I'm cool."

It's a phenomenal scene and shows us Vader truly being the badass he's implied to be, but it's also just a touch daft.

To be honest the only problem I've got is the way Leia got the plans. I thought that given that she physically just left the battle itself while Vader looked at the actual ship made a lot of the conversation at the beginning of IV a bit daft. If they made it so that it was a different ship that escaped and the last scene was a ship rendezvousing with Tantive IV and the ISD coming in just after the exchange (perhaps initially only capturing the escape ship rather than the CRV) would give us a bit more of a feeling of Vader actually "hunting" the rebels.

I have seen this mentioned on social Media about how the Darth Vader end sequence in Rogue One was inconsistent with the opening scene of New Hope.
In Rogue one Darth Vader boards the Rebel Ship slaughter the Rebel Troopers with unleashed Force powers and a blazing lightsabre. But in the opening sequence of New Hope, Darth Vader never uses his lightsabre and the only force power is when he lifts and chokes a Rebel Trooper by the neck, which only demonstrates with enhanced strength.

Obviously, with a small budget, Lucas has to limit the use of special effects in the first movie and, for story telling reasons, probably intended to limit the use of Darth Vader's powers until later in the movie.

But the scenes are different situations. At the end of Rogue one there is a sense of urgency to prevent the Rebels from getting away with the DeathStar plans. So, naturally, Darth Vader would take the lead and use all his powers to try to recapture the plans as quickly as possible. However, at the start of New Hope, The ship with the plans is captured and the Empire has the upper hand. Darth Vader normally doesn't take the lead into battle unless he is needed. At this point, taking control of the captured ship from the Rebels is a inevitable. There is no urgency. it's just a matter of recovering the Death Star plans.
