Umm, look at the big picture. It's PADS, not hard armor. The shoulder pads are made up of 1mm thick plastic, then it's soft padding. There is no arm pads, or lower let pads. The reason the wear it is because they hit each other head on! They don't wear it to protect from 'accidental' hits. I'm comparing to your FB. BTW, I am watching YOURS now, if you have any respect for a sport 2/3 of Americans watch.

Football/Soccer is a game of skill ...you cant compare it to a setplay sport like American football ( why didnt you just call it Americna Rugby!? ...would save confusion ...besides you dont really use your feet in it anyway lol )
