And yes doors are possible in the bf engine. BF2 SF has lots of gates that can be opened and closed and elevators that can go up and down by flipping a switch, but imagine doing this: (hotwire the door)

or this in FS: (blast the door)

The thread http://www.tpfclan.net/fsforums/viewtopic.php?id=2089 goes in depth about the ideas. Yes, i agree we need to make a door thread or this will keep polluting other threads.

We clearly need to make a door thread, eh wookiee and general andrew.

We mean like blast doors in the death star. That can be controlled, and with control panels that can be blown up by lasers to stop the door from being opened, and then the destroyed panel has to be repaired by an engineer dude before they can advance.

Mainly in boarding ships and space battles im thinking. And like the endor base, there too.

To have even slightly different things for differently ranked players (assuming it was possible) would mean having to have seperate models for each rank. That would make the mod larger and laggier.

Your base and gear models are chosen by your class and only your class. I really doubt something like that could be bypassed with python coding, and that's the only option available for something like this to be modded.

edit: derr.... doors? The only problem (from what I know, which is very little in itself) that I see is how EA is going to handle ranking for mods to have the extra weapons as unlockables.

Also Bewilderbeast the team has already made it clear that there will be no release for BF2. If that changes I'd be very happy, but your sig might raise questions that have already been answered.

Hey! My idea of unlockable medic packs and repairing wrenchs, etc, is so good its already implemented into BF2142! The following is from gamespot, and proves that my idea is not only feasible, its already in, and should be a cinch to do the rest (unlock repair tools, etc)

"There is no dedicated medic class in Battlefield 2142. Instead, the standard assault class can unlock a medic kit, which can be used to heal you and friendly units. However, you won't be able to scatter multiple kits at the same time. Instead, you're given a single health kit that can be deployed onto the ground. It will not instantly heal a friendly, like Battlefield 2's kits can, but it will slowly heal all friendly units within a small radius. Meanwhile, defibrillators to revive fallen teammates are another unlock. "
