well in those days, the first release of Episode V, maybe they had problems with those blue, cause they used blue screen matting for their ATATs, maybe that's the reason u don't see blue in the original ones and only red ones

Me too but this has to do with the fact that I have been playing X-Wing games since 1993.
My friends and I still host XvT Balance of Power Parties since there hasn't been a good replacement for it.
In other words: Plz fill my gap with nice space maps in FS.

Ion cannon is some kind of EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) and those ones are always blue

Preacher is right. In the movies ion cannons fire big red beams. But you are right in SW games the Ion cannon beam is always blue. I think Larry Holland(X-Wing) is to blame for this.
