It's not a bug, just how the template engine works. The glass you see when in normal cockpit view is actually not the same one you see from the outside. When you get in the cockpit (pressing 'E') it takes out the glass you see from the outside and put's in the sub that is clearer to look though. It only shows this for who is in the cockpit. Not all mods support this though. In DC for 1942, the cockpit glass was the same and didn't use a sub.

Now, I'm not sure if this is used in BF2142, but I'm pretty sure BC it looks the same way.

Whoa, great idea. Is it possible? I haven't seen it in third person in BF: 2142. Could this also be applied to the body? It would be REALLY neat to see the body turn black where a blaster bolt hit.

I think it would be pretty neat to have little holes/skuffs/scratches appear on the glass while in cockpit view of your vehicle when you get hit...

So if you are getting shot at by a sniper from far off you could hear a little *poing* and see a scratch on the glass protecting you. Or when you go head on with a TIE and see his lasers hitting your glass and bouncing away leaving scuffs.

The more you get hit the more clouded and destroyed the glass would get. I am not saying tie it to the damage of the vehicle, only show a mark if a bullet actaully HITS the glass.

Also could this be added to the outside too? Instead with large black scorches and holes added on. Then fade away if you land on a repair pad.

It wouldn't really affect gameplay since you can always switch views. But it would be pretty awesome. After a large battle you roll/hover/fly away with a damaged cockpit instead of the pretty, polished one you entered it with.
