This film trailer has a far more 'serious' feeling than the cartoon, actually this is the first time some of the transformers are pictured as brutal killing machines. And i am referring to the scene in the desert with the one ready to stab a guy's chest with a big drill, or whatever it is. A claw...

With a combination of Spielberg and Bay, it may turn out to be a legendary movie, true to the expectations of the fans out there.

Though it's sad to hear of rumors that Soundwave, my favorite Decepticon, wont make it into the movie. Is this true?

Did you not see the 1986 movie? There's some stuff going on in that which is pretty brutal for a U certificate film. The scene where the Decepticons raid the Autobot shuttle near the begining of the film springs to mind. Within the opening minutes of the movie you've got a number of the core Autobot characters biting the bullet (laser bolt, whatever) in such a fashion that you know they're not getting up from that. And there's blood splattering across the screen, only it's not blood, it's oil so it's okay.

As far as style, looks like they're going for the tried and true present day 'gritty, realistic' look for Transformers that the countless other superhero/cartoon/comic franchises have capitalized on as of late.  Honestly the new TMNT movie looks like crap from the trailers, but at least they are trying something different compared to the other comic franchises with the look of the film.

Pearl harbour was the way it was because the film was really about the attack on pearl harbour itself, Bay also had to make it interesting and give it some story, so the love triangle was probably ideal. Besides not all the fluff was boring, i thought the part were Wrafe *cough* see where i got the name ? *cough* was wooing the nurse and he popped the cork on the bottle of wine, hit him in his nose which he'd just broken, was extremely amusing.

Well that's the point I'm making, at least you know you're gonna get lots of action. I like Michael Bays films mostly, like with Pearl Harbor for instance the actual attack sequence at the core of that movie was great, it was all the fluff either side of it (the hour long unconvincing love triangle romantic schmaltz before it for example) that scuppered that movie for me.

I don't neccesarily want depth from a Transformers movie, but I would like to see it done right. Hopefully he's a fan and gets what makes the Transformers as a concept work. Hopefully Spielberg will keep a tight leash on him.

Hmmmmmm, new Transformers movie trailer. Looks like they're going for a completely different look for the the robots in this version from the cartoon and the toys. Still looks interesting though.

You'll know Bay though, he's famous (or is that infamous? ) for producing high octane popcorn movies with no depth to them, the likes of Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, Bad Boys. Though lately he did do The Island which started off quite inteligently before degenerating into the usual Bay style explosions and high speed chases.

I don't mind his films in general (with a few obvious exceptions ), at least you know what you're going to get. Lots of action.
