One of the things I think would be great in aiding flight control in chase view is to lock the camera behind the craft so when the craft rolls right, the camera rolls with it to the right, roll left, camera left, etc. When playing the Battlefield games, I personally don't care for free camera functionality when in chase view. I wish DICE at least made it optional. lol

Hey xEROhOUR, do you know if the B-wing is still going to get a fully functional gyroscopic stabilization system?

I'd personally stick to the concussion missile systems for the A-wing (2 launchers, six missiles each).

Regarding the Y-wing, the Alliance has three primary versions based on two basic models. The single seater version seen prominently in the films is the BTL-A4 Y-wing starfighter and has seen the most action in the Alliance. The BTL-S3 Y-wing is the two seater model which has an extended forward cockpit module to accomodate the additional rear co-pilot (which sits back-to-back with the pilot a la T-47) who generally functions as a weapons system officer on missions that require pin point precision for disabling enemy craft or installations. The third model is the BTL-A4 LP (Longprobe) which is a modified S3 model that has had the gunner station removed to make room for more powerful sensors, extra provisions and a more sophisticated nav computer. The BTL-A4 LP, or Longprobe, is generally used as a long range reconnasaince and patrol fighter. Beyond, these three primary models, the Alliance has countless variations in use due to the Y-wing's ease of modification, adaptability and upgrading.

For the S3 model, I'd personally keep control of the secondary warhead systems (proton torpedoes, proton bombs, etc.) to the pilot so the gunner can focus on the ion turret. It's accurate and it would kick some serious butt. lol

Typically, proton bombs are not "dropped" but rather ejected. So, in space, they follow a set trajectory with their momentum carrying them through real space. Unless they're equipped with guidance systems, of course.

What happened to our good buddy Schrifle. He was working on a magnificent BTL-S3 model back when I was a part of the team. It was coming along very well.

Oh crap! I just realized I never posted up that in depth craft description of the Y-wing that I promised. lol Yikes. I don't know if anyone still wants it.

One problem I'd have with the one man Y-wing as you said it makes the bombing targeting alot harder to both operate the bombs and guns. It would probably be better in my opinion to have the bombers as a two man viehcle, it also means the Y-wing has more of a chance on picking up on followers in boming runs, this allows both pilots to set their minds on their specific jobs.

About the Y-Wing thing guys - are you going with the one seater Y-Wing (from the movies) or the two-seater Y-Wing (mostly from the books)? Because either way works for me, really.

As far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong I know you will so why do I ask) Y-Wings break down as such:
you have your BTL-S3 Y-Wing, which is a one man fighter
then you have your BTL-A4 Y-Wing, which as best as I recall is a two-seater with a gunner working the ion cannon
then there's your BTL-A4 Longprobe Y-Wing, which has some room for passengers and provisions, and is generally a long range recon ship

So I don't see the point of the A4 LP in a game, but currently the specific version of Y-Wing (whether one man or two man) is yet to be listed on the main site.

Hmn I was most interested in the viecle idea, I got the idea of the Attack of the Clones movie, in which at the battle of geonosis you can see one of the transports dropping down a tank. Whether or not there is a apparence in the Films I don't know.

I definately think if it could be mapped it could add more depth tactics to the map being able to move your armor units to the furthest bases as quickly as posible. Whether it mapable or not is another thing.

Based on what you just said on the Y-wings it maybe an idea that the first view on hte gunner side is the gun turret on top of the craft and the second is replacing the missle trrent underneath with a bombing turret similar to the titan movable nozzels to judge the bomb launch angles.

I do have to say nice job by you lot on the aircraft, I've seen the shots of them. They do look mighty impressive. Definatly the thing I'm looking foward to

They are un-canon (not accurate to the movies) as they only appeared in Rogue Squadron, as an upgrade to the A-Wings missiles. The A-Wing will have guided concussion missiles in this mod.

I'm unaware of the Y-Wing situation right now, as I believe infantry combat is being focused on first. BF2142 doesn't support picture-in-picture viewing, so a separate bomb sight wouldn't be possible. However, a bomb camera would work, as would having the bombs dropped by the gunner. Ion cannons will probably be limited to space Y-Wings (which will likely have torpedoes, not bombs, and they will be similar to EMP weapons.)

With the Imperial fighters, the mods aim is to be as accurate as possible. In the films, the imperial blasters actually ire more slowly, so they'll probably be made more powerful.
