Bailing is bad, mkay? Used to piss me off greatly in GC... even though people died when their aircraft was about to explode they did it to stop you from earning the kill >:-( I am for locking the players in the aircraft, but is there the possibility of only locking them in when the aircraft is seriously damaged? That way people can still suicide to death if they hate their pilot, but it cannot be used to escape being shot to oblivion by their adversaries.

P.S., I have no idea if this idea has been mentioned in the thread, because I couldn't be arsed to read through all the 13 pages of mindless drivel but I still felt like saying something on the topic .. so sorry if this idea has already been mentioned

I always thought TIEs were balanced lore-wise due to the fact that there were so damn many of them! Mass swarms of fighters can't really be done in an FPS since teams have to be balanced.

Isn't the A-Wing as agile as the TIE anyways? It has shields also if I remember correctly. Wouldn't that leave TIEs totally vulnerable since they wouldn't be able to outmanuver the A-Wing like they could do with an X-Wing?

Well that's where balancing comes in, balancing gameplay with lore to make a good and balanced game. To be honest a lot of the unbalancing things lore wise about the Star Wars universe are easily counterbalanced, or are actually balanced in lore anyway. Like TIE Fighters having no shields or missiles, but being faster, more manouverable, and smaller targets and so therefore harder to hit.

If there are any really heavily unbalanced factors due to lore, then a decision will be made on whether to follow through on that or to make adjustments for the sake of balancing the game.

It's all good to follow lore, but this is a game and if one side has an unfair advantage over the other due to the movies people will get frustrated and possibly quit playing the mod.

This doesn' t apply to just the escape pod thing by the way, but pretty much everthing.

You must be new to EA and the BF series. EA doesn't care about mods. It took them over six months to release the developing/editing tools after BF: 2 was released. All EA cares about is expanding it's monopoly. If it doesn't gain initial money for EA, they're not going to create it. In fact, I don't think they even released the tools for BF: 2142 yet either. And as far as I know, the only two forums they read are FilePlanet's and their own. Oh, Total's too.

Well just have to wait and see, hopefully a EA editor dev will read this thread and see what we need to make FS outstanding.
