He thought that I'd never run over him, but I had a massive score because I was pwning in that jet so it didn't do that much damage and I could see a JSF coming for the airstrip so I had to move fast.

You're mising the concept behind this. You beat him to the jet and he got pissed so he MADE you run him over so he could punish you. Usually they do it again and again but I guess he found something else to do.
