i would love a night time city map. well lit main buildings and almost pitch black outside. best to have it set on a sandy or rock planet. The type of buildings on Tatooine lend themselves to a night time map as their doorways would allow a lot of light out.

This map concept would work really well.

I'd offer a few suggestions. First, strike any vehicles from the map. Make it infantry-only. I love the idea of small groups of soldiers sneaking around a pitch-black forest.

Second, include custom sound settings for the map (include modified default sounds or con files for existing sounds) so that footsteps can be heard from farther away. Also, try to code sounds triggered by player actions, such as large underbrush making a rustling noise when a player passes through it.

Also, I'd actually give the map the slightest amount of light, but only within a small radius around the player so he can see brush and trails. Use map fog to make everything far away pretty much black.

Sounds like a great idea safe . Maybe it could be the rebels are infiltrating an really high fortified
Imperial base in the forest (Not really like the endor strike type of base)? Glad you came up with it safe, hope the devs like it too.

Oh, this map. Posted it ages ago and forgot about it.

Night maps have been tried in PR, and generally are a pain to get right. I'm thinking, though, that maybe if the devs add one or more new equipment pieces (such as electro-flares you can throw that illuminates the area around them, like in X-Com UFO Defence), and certain weapons' scopes (such as that of the A-280) and electro-binoculars given night-vision capabilities, as well as adding lights to certain vehicles, I think it could work.

It's probably not something you'll see in the near future, though.

Hmm..sounds good but not sure how viable it is to add extra equipment for one map, ie NVG's. Be a good map to try out, but it obviously wouldnt be PITCH dar, there would have to be some natural illumination caused by moon and star light as well as light refraction from cloud tops over horizon. Still get's pertty damn dark in those settings though
