Im still playing it. I started november/december 2003. Yes, the combat upgrade ruined it and the "new game enhancements" destroyed it. But i just can't leave. Ive been out for 6 months and returned and have been playing again for 3 months again. The new beast master is really fun and is better then the old Creature Handler (yes, im also an elder CH). Creatures now really have a mind of their own.

Pre-cu was still the best, but i still can enjoy myself in the game. And animations are still way better then most mmo's ( there was a party in swg because of SW's 30th anniversary. I made a little dance movie and just look at the fantastic dance animations. Also the emotes are very very good, for an old game like this) http://members.home.nl/knootewoot/30year.wmv

Yes, i was an original player, back when you had to try everything to be a Jedi.. but never got to be one.
I got out a little after the space warfare add-on, cant remember what it was called.
It could have been so much more... and it was fun for a while.

I played SWG too for a long long time.....if you ask me it was the best MMORPG....but since the newest updates..its only crap...now everyone is Jedi and so on...that really sucks...i really really miss the game....

I used to play SWG and quit before it went CU. I played some of emu a long time ago when they really didn't have much made for it. Is it even playable yet? I stoped looking when most would be servers wont bother fixing the major balance issues and mostly ran by kids that want to be "l33t" and all that lame crap. I only played WoW on private servers (yeah I'm cheap) it does get boring after awhile. I do miss some stuff in SWG like surveying and crafting stuff and crawling under land speeders and pretend to hide from people.

I still play personally...over two years now for my account..longer since I quit for a few months after both of the 'upgrades' But back on the Emu topic, no you dont have to pay sony...you need the basic star wars galaxies installation, but what you really pay sony for is the ability to use their servers, so since you wont be using a SOE server, theres no monthly fee....unless someone tries to break the law by charging and gives SOE the chance to slap a lawsuit on them.

Mmm. I spent two turbulent years as a tiny Trandoshan running about Kettemoor hoping SOE would right their wrongs. Glad to hear it's still got nothin' over watching grass grow. Not so glad to hear it still has a pulse.

No. Sony doesn't run the SWGEmu. Sony only runs their live servers. This is someone's private server.

It'd be illegal for them to charge anything without an agreement with Lucas Arts since then they'd be profitting off of copyrighted characters or trademarked or something along those lines without Lucas Arts' consent, so it's safe to assume, unless they're looking for a lawsuit, that it'll be free.

Just out of curiosity, will I need to be paying monthly to play at the SWGEmu server? I checked all over their site, but it's very sloppy and can't find anything OR is it free to everyone, you just need the game installed?
