Good idea! I wanted a "Blockade of Kessel" space map with Kessel just as an imagine in a sky box but a good debris field or asteroid belt modeled so that there would be something to fly around.

Seems like the space maps will be easy, with some photoshop work to make skyboxes you can make them take place in all the famous locales. A nice dense nebula or cosmic storm skybox would allow the mapper to actually set a colored fog level in space rather than just plain clean space.

As was said, I see no problem with rebels using modified vessels. In reality, it's quite common for forces without proper weaponry to do so. Look at the Norwegians during World War II, fitting hidden machine guns to their fishing boats. Or the Japanese, outfitting sampans with antennae, radars, and listening equipment. Or the insurgency in the Middle East with their stereotypical pick-up trucks with machine guns. Or Koreans during the Imjin War, loading oxen with explosives, lighting the fuses, and driving them into the enemy's ranks. Or Icelanders ramming British warships with coastal patrol vessels during the Cod Wars - I could go on and on.

I'm not necessarily suggesting YT-1300 ships, but I'd love to see modified vessels - the more creativity the better.

Normal stormtroopers with ,what looks like, jetpacks or oxygen packs.

They are on a hiking trip, experiencing the wonders of the Death Star's landscape.

and the fighters/transports are spawned into.

I hope by "spawned into" you atleast mean inside the hanger of the capital ships. If there is a hanger present to take off from, it is always better to do it that way, rather than just spawning in space, unless it is some map like the DS where the rebels dont have a place to take off from (floating platform lol). It is just more immersive.

Zero-G troopers were in X-Wing Alliance, too. They were fun to mow down with turbo laser fire from the Otana.

A Zero-G trooper platoon uses a well fitted and heavy armored assault shuttle to stage its operations from.

I remember these, too. They were more than deadly. In fact, I dare say they were overpowered (their guns should be lighter). Other than that, they were really cool.

I'd like to have Zero-G Utility troopers, too. 'Space engineers' who repair ships from the outside (I think it'd make for a nice scene, troops hovering by, or sitting on, the hull of starships with wielding tools, and enemy fighters trying to strafe them. It'd make for an interesting challenge, having to leave the safety of your ship to repair it. Perhaps they could have other uses, too.

Details aside, I love this idea and I think it should be implemented as early as possible !
