Thanks, Dutch. For some reason i3d's patch worked. I think it had something to do with my computer hibernating during installation :-S

As for MAX, I think it's the OpenGL bug that tends to freeze up computers with nVidia cards and dual processors. -shrug-

Running good for now.

Max crashing is most likely a memory error, try running http://www.memtest86.com/, check the SMART readouts of your HDD (preferably with a diagnostic tool from your manufacturer), oh and try to download the patch from files.i3d.nl with both Firefox and IE6/7.

Hm, you know what? It isn't just the patch. XWing Alliance installer won't launch either.

Blah! And MAX keeps crashing when I try to cut polygons. This is the worst hard drive format ever.

Well, I downloaded from FileFront and it went 100%. Still does the SAME thing. I d-click on the exe and it doesn't do anything. I tried turning off Virus protection and Firewall but still nothing. And I've scanned it for viruses/virii and nothing.

This isn't cool.

Same here, filefront never lets me down... and the rates are really fast for me... average 400/sec

If he wasn't one of our developers I'd suggest uninstalling 2142 and never looking back

But I'd recommend getting the client patch from filefront. That's the only site I've never gotten a corrupt download from

So I had to reformat my hard drive. I have everything back up and running (including Max -screams for joy!) but 2142 is not wanting to update for me. I went to the main site and tried downloading it from there but the download kept stopping and I'd have to restart. Then I tried a torrent and it downloaded (after like 3 days) but the .exe won't do anything. I've scanned it just in case it was bugged but it came out clean.

Any ideas?

Mattes sort of needs 2142 if he's going to work
