I don't know what is needed at this point. LOL The damn editor just seems to hate 2142. I was finally able to get a simple map with a few objects, etc. but.... No textures, no skydome, etc. I tried to pack what I had and try it out but it wouldn't even show in the menu for a local server map selection. I'm sure once you get everything set up perfect and know the proper steps for testing the maps, it's not bad, but for the average mapper (i.e. me. lol) it's near impossible to figure out how to do things for 2142.

It's probably way beyond what anyone wants to tackle, but if there was a way to post all the files needed, steps to exact directories needed, etc then it may be something that the "average mapper" would want to take on, but without that it's a waist of time. I have spent hours the last couple days trying to get just a simple map to work (I could have made 6 - 10 simple BF2 or BF2 mods maps in that time. lol) . It just goes to prove how very skilled this FS team really is.

Well I have been looking over the FS files and trying to figure out where to start on a map of sorts. I was thinking some thing along the lines of a space titan/boarding or some thing like that but right now i am spending more time just getting BF2 editor to not crash every 5 mins. I wish dice/ea would come out with a bf2142 editor. Then again it would probably still crash half the time.

Haha yeah I remember that team deathmatch dogfight map. It was a lot of fun to jump on with four people and shoot it up.

I think a cool idea to expand on that would be to have several "nav buoys" around the map which are basically capture points with a large radius so starfighters can control them. Kind of like a "patrol the border" map.

I remember that map. It implemented lots of little explosions out of nowhere, like the ones in the battle, fixed the 'grid at top and bottom of map' problem, and had fighters spawn in invisible boxes so they couldn't be destroyed before take-off.

I loved the Team Death Match dogfight map, too, with nothing but empty space and a flight of X-Wings fighting TIE Fighters. The 'simplest' ideas are often the best!
