Examples of this include the Israeli-Palestinian conflict which, although caused by many things, is believed to primarily be about the major difference between the Koran and the Bible, which is that in the Bible Abraham was asked to sacrifice Isaac, whose descendants are the Jews, while in the Koran, Ishmael was the one who was supposed to be the one sacrificed. His descendants are, you guessed it, the Muslims.  They were each supposedly promised Israel, the promised land.

Another example is the anti-gay stance adopted by many who use the bible as an excuse to hate others.

I'm sure that I could go on and on about this topic, but it's 6:11 in the morning, and I need to go to sleep.

But seriously, I don't think anyone here has expressed that they hate religion. All I, for one, am saying is that I don't believe in it and find it pretty pointless, except as a crutch to some of those who happen to need one.

The existence of reincarnation is improbable anyway.

Which makes this even more crazy. It's like me banning the landing of sleds pulled by reindeer atop peoples' roofs.

And the Chinese (government) are crazy.

It is now forbidden by Chinese law to reincarnate without authorization within the borders of Chinese-occupied Tibet. It also illegal to declare that a given individual is reincarnated.

This quickly becomes less funny when you realize the reasons for the new law: Tibetan Buddhists are now unable to designate reincarnations of Dalai Lama, their spiritual leader... without 'state authorization'.

Now, I'm no big fan of religion myself, but this... this just strains belief. What's next, a ban on going to Hell or Heaven?
