lol glad its sorted. but i mearly posted the map loading one incase you had that prob again. and like i said.... you posted about maps not loading in the first 2 lines so i had to back myself up lol. anyway......

Sorry for "spamming" the forums, but I usually have a busy day and don't get to the computer until late. It did start with the map loading problem, but it snowballed. I now know all the fixes for the common problems so I shouldn't have to reinstall for a while.

For the problem in the screeny, all you can do, really, is barrow or buy a new disc. It's scratched, and won't install properly until it's repaired. I'm sorry for starting all of this fuss, heh.:D

read his first line n00b. ur the one not reading it lol. the whole problem started with the maps not laoding. so dont accuse me of not reading when ur clearly not reading them properly yourself lol

I hade problems loading maps and the game freezing. Cleaning out the files in c:\documents and settings.. your username in windows\bf2142 directory, delete it. That removes all ur settings but it usually does the trick, got that answere when I emailed the bf2142 support. And I do advice you to email them yourself or phone them since they actually do have a phonenumber for support. Good game but the bugs... very annoying sometimes.

just quickly i know that uve fixed this, but if anyone ever gets this problem again you dont need to uninstall your game, just follow these instructions and it'l sort out the map not loading up problem.

1) Go to your BF2142 folder, mine is C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142

2) Locate the file "radial.cdb"

If you do not see this file in the folder then you need to go to folder options tell Windows to show hidden files. You also (or instead) have to uncheck the box just a little bit below it, which is "Hide protected operating system files".
(For some reason this is a protected file and will not show if you ask to show normal hidden files.)

3) Rename the file to oldradial.cdb (or something similar so you know what it is) and start your game.

The game will create a new radial.cbd file on it's own.

This does work and should only take less than 5 min to fix on your own.

Pardon? I already fixed this problem. I barrowed a relative's disc and everything is fine. My original plan was to download the torrent. Days after I thought about it, a friend got busted for illegally downloading hundreds of torrents. I just barrowed a disc instead of messing with the authorities. Thanks for your feedback, as late as it may be.;)

ok listen to me. your disc has been scratched in an important data file. this happened to me. if you didnt already go out and and by a new disc. then i highly suggest not to speak of doing this again. i had to download mine in a torrent file, the use the cd-key to install it. it only takes the disc to star up the game if you do that.

Never rush to buy a new game in this case, mail EA and they'll tell you to send the entire game package plus 5€ over to them and they'll send you a new disc , a hell of a lot cheaper

Well I'm all set now! My cousin brought over his disc so I could install, then I ran into the PB kicking problem, I cleaned that up, and now I'm ready for this mod! Can't wait, and thanks for the help guys!:D

Well there's some kind of repair pastes sold, but they only work if the scratch isn't located deep in data layer of DVD...

(You can also try to "wash" your dvd with warm water, sounds nuts but it worked for me once..)

Is there any way to repair the disc? I had a Game Doctor lying around here somewhere, but I used that for console games a while back.

This time, if you can, get it from EA Link...that way, you dont have to worry about the disc.
