I think the major difference between WiC and COH is ofcourse timesetting and the plot, there have been made tons of WW2 games, and though COH might be a beautiful game with it's own strong points, there has not been much interest and concideration to make a RTS in the Cold War era, aside from Red Alert 2, which is a while back, outdated, and the plot sometimes too cheesy and over-the-top and unrealistic. (Romanov was too much stereotype "AH COMRAD!")

Two different games, but i like WiC for setting down a scenario that has not been explored the way it should've been, because the cold war never went 'Hot'. (I heard Larry Bond is responsible for much of the story)

But dont let me take the topic to another direction, just wanted to talk about differences.

There's been lots of talk about World in Conflict and people praise it lot. When I played WIC it felt like "ok" RTS but it was nothing compared to Company of Heroes. Company of heroes might first look like one of those mass producted WW2 RTS games but it's not.

The game strikes you like thousand volts. Infantry moves like Real people by exploring the roads and taking cover near obstacles. The battlefield is 100% dynamic. After artillery barrage land is full of holes and dirt which offer cover for MG placements and infantry or even for tanks/AT guns. You can also build defenses like tank traps/barbed wire/mg nests and sandbags. Some mission also got Field HQ and forwarding HQs where you can build infantry and other units during mission. COH is also the first game with DX10 support.

One reason why one people don't know about this game is poor marketing work THQ(game publisher) did. This is one of my all time favourite RTS games. Maybe even the best.

Now some pictures, videos and link for the demo. Please give it a try. I promise you won't be dissapointed.

Pictures(all pics are ingame):

Videos(Both videos ingame but another one is bit more cinematic):

http://youtube.com/watch?v=2XwgO40bAVo

http://youtube.com/watch?v=TL9C33QmprI

And now the DEMO:

http://www.gamershell.com/download_15378.shtml
http://www.fileplanet.com/167354/160000 … eroes-Demo
