Here is where I get my updates from:

http://battlefield2.filefront.com

I have v1.50. v1.51 was not listed on the site. I have the most recent version of First Strike on that site (First Strike_v1.5.exe). Once the launcher installed, it updated First Strike again.

I'm downloading v1.51 now. I'll get the native resolution and put it in once v1.50 has been patched to v1.51.

"Does it crash if you go via 2142/community/mods?" I'm unsure of what your asking here.

Thankyou for your help Twigs! I'll edit this post below with my results when done. Cross fingers... big money, big money..

Edit:
***********************************************************
Pending....Done

The problem was v1.50. I'm in the game! I didn't need to add in +szx, +szy for my computer. My native resolution is 1280 x 1024.
***********************************************************

documents/my documents is essentially the same thing with seven. Game will create a new folder because thats where it stores settings and stuff.

Right first off, are you running the right version of FS? Make sure you've downloaded 1.5.

Second, BF2142 should be at version 1.51 not 1.5

No need to run in compatability mode, your already in admin mode. Have you set a firewall exception for FS launcher?

+szx 1920 +szy 1080 are my settings. Yes it HAS to be exact, it must be your native screen resolution.

Does it crash if you go via 2142/community/mods?

Does the szx and szy have to be some specific number? My screen doesn't look widescreen.

much help appretiated.

EDIT: When I delete the bf2142 folder, after attempting to launch the mod, the folder is created in "My Documents" again. I also found a folder in "Documents" that looks the same. Should I delete that one too?

To fix the constant crashing at startup, I deleted my profile from the \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\Battlefield 2142\Profiles\ directory (i.e. I deleted the 0001 and Default folders), and that lets me restart the game. From there I've had no crashes as long as I don't modify anything.
