Well guys, i just got my computer back, they replaced the screen with a 1920X1200 res screen . and the moment i opened my laptop up, my battlefield 2142 disk fell out! OMG!!! I must be blessed or something

I've heard stories of Siemens telling a shop that was missing 3 chargers for 3 laptops to "throw em in the bin and facturate em", so I wouldn't be surprised if you got a new one

Nope. There is usually some subtext in the contract that mentions they aren't responsible for preserving your data. If you send a computer in for repairs, expect it to come back formated. I've NEVER been able to send a computer in to get fixed and got it back with my data still intact. So just take your hard drive out before sending it in if thats not the problem.

They hook it up to a machine that auto formats and re-images. They aren't going to go through all your programs and files and see if the issue might somehow be caused by software. Otherwise, they couldn't get it back to you so quick.

what model do you have? alienware's are kickbut computers but yeah.. like you said.. the CS sucks

well, the only email i got was that it was shipped, and it gave me the shipping number and stuff, so i think either they just didnt do anything, or fixed it, its alienware, which is dell, which doesnt have a good costumer service reputation, but we'll see i guess

Laptops are very modular these days and it was more than likely repaired and not replaced. Here's the thing, usually when you send a laptop in for repairs they recommend you remove the HDD and battery as those aren't needed to test your system unless either one of those are causing problems. Hopefully for your sake they didn't lose your HDD or replace the system without swapping it out.

replacing should be very easy for them. same model: just put your old hdd in the new laptop and done.
but if you own a legal copy of 2142 you should have registerd it with EA. if you login there (using ealink is the fastest way) and go to you profile>my games you should see your cd for every EA you ever registered online.
i found this service to be bloody handy a couple of times now

I suppose it could have been replaced, seeing as the screen was probably borked. I'm sure they will transfer all your data as it was to the new one

i sent my computer in for repairs, and according to the shipping information, they shipped it back in about 18 hours, 9pm to 3pm. Do you guys think it was simply replaced? that would suck cause i might have trouble finding my CD key for bf2142. It was only something wrong with the connection between the monitor and the computer, a little line across the screen, do you think they would just say "**** it" and send me a new comp? please tell me what you think the suspense is killing me O.o
