That was one of the first things i done, was deleted the fs cache in my documents. Even reinstalled the launcher to it's current version but still no joy. Even tried launching it via the first strike.exe in the 2142 main folder.

Even on computer start up it gives me the no cd error message

hmm. you can try going to your My Documents folder, then navigate to Battlefield 2142\mods\FirstStrike, and deleting the cache folder found there. Then try joining a local game and it will optimize shaders again

The current launcher i am using is the 0.8.2 version, fs mod is patched to version 4.13

The "No cd/dvd in drive" error even when you do have the disc in the drive is a known 2142 error. I think it's got something to do with shatner disc protection. Anyway if you get that error just try again until you get in.

You should also always start First Strike through the launcher, not through the community tab.

I would suggest you try downloading the latest version of the Launcher here: http://www.woodat.com/builds/pubclient/ … .0.8.2.zip

Just unzip wherever you like (if you unzip it to your currrent launcher location i would suggest you remove the current one first). If you're still having trouble after using this new launcher, come back here and tell us about it.

hi, thought i would fire up first strike again but seem to get afew problems. On the initial patch to version 13, i ran it via local server and got a ctd on when it finished optimizing shaders.

Started the launcher and got the 2142 logo then no cd in drive even when the disc is physically spinning in the drive. Tried 2142 and got the same error. i also noticed that the fslauncher.exe was still active after failure to start up. Then restarted computer. Tried 2142 and that thankfully loaded, went into the community tab to launch fs mod, got a start up then black screen and ctd.

the shortcut lancher has: target set to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\First Strike\FirstStrikeLauncher.exe"

and the start in as: "C:\Program Files (x86)\First Strike"

fs mod is located where it should be ie: battlefield2142/mods/firststrike

and the launcher: programfiles/firststrike

had this problem since version 08

any pointers on how to fix this?

If paths are correct and reinstall of FS didn't work, and the error appears also when you launch BF2142, before you reinstall BF2142 try this:

copy the file
...\Battlefield 2142\mods\Firststrike\shaders_client.zip
to
...\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142\

Same thing happened to me. Weirdest thing. So I ended up starting BF2142, then ran FS from within 2142. Later on I decided to have one more look at the FS shortcut properties. I noticed the extra bit "\mods\Firstrike" in the 'start in' line. Removed that bit leaving it to end with "....\BF2142" and voila, I can now start the mod from the desktop shortcut. Mind you I did notice later that starting BF2142 caused a memory dump. Running chkdsk and then deleting the BF2142 folder from "my documents" seems to have helped.

Hey i have a mac, So when i start it from custom games it goes back to the desktop to restart, goes to a black screen like normal, Then it crashs! any help?

Okay, I am brand spamking new to the first strike Mod. I am up to date with the newest battlefield 2142 patch, which I believe is 1.4, and I believe I have the 1.1 patch for First Strike... When I try to play it though... I get no servers to select from.... There is no single player, so I go to multiplayer, but when the server update runs its course there is nothing.... Is there something ELSE that I have to download??

Damn, i seem to have this same problem, maybe i just can't play this...

Everything seem to be right:

"E:\Pelit\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +modPath mods/FirstStrike +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

"E:\Pelit\Battlefield 2142\Mods\FirstStrike"

But no go

should be F:\Progam Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe and F:\Progam Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\ unless you've installed 2142 extremely strangely.

It doesn't seem to work so here is my information:

Target Pathway: "F:\Progam Files\Electronic Arts\BF2142.exe" +modPath mods/FirstStrike +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

Start In Pathway: "F:\Progam Files\Electronic Arts\Mods\FirstStrike"

Help from here?

i got this error when patching 2142 to 1.4 . the start in was C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods\firststrike......

i changed it and will see if it works now
