IMHO I think reloading adds a nice touch to the "realism" of the game - that is if the devs think that reloading is part of the lore of SW. However, I think there are many more things that are more important as far as bug fixes, crash fixes etc., although it would be cool to have. Granted the devs did say that it would take a lot of time to implement an animation for each and every weapon, so I wouldn't put it ahead of the more pertinant issues at hand.

But with FS no extra mags and 100 rounds in the most basic weapon, I simply try to pour as much of it onto the battlefield before I die.

It did not pop up in the movies becuase they were mock ups of old WW2 weapons, and all of them were glued togather so realistic reloading was out of the question.

In the Republic commando games you also have to reload your weapons, you also reload your weapons in SWBF/SWBF2, and you will in the PSP exclusive game too. It was something Lucas has admited he wanted to do but it would of made the fight sceens way too close tor real life and nobody wan'ted to see a hero get cought out in the open with one shot left in his power pack.

In the books they talk alot about the iner workings of blasters and how you do have to reload them but not often as they are meant to last a while. A good power pack will last you a few days at most in light use, but in heavy combat your going to have to reload alot faster and you need too keep your power packs charged. They are re useable.

So if you wan't the devs could make it so you only have to change out your power pack when you go to the ammo box, or power pack that players can use to recharge their blasters.

I just had a startling revelation (thank you chocolate )
For a weapon to ......erh....."shoot".....kablooey...., regardless whether it be firing bullets, plasma, lasers, the weapon has to have a source of energy.
A star fighter's lasers use a battery *X-Wing*(must be huge) energy collected from solar energy cells *Tie fighter* (cells on the wings).
A capital ship uses fuel to fire its huge cannons, I don't remember the exact number, but a Republic Capital Ship's main cannons (Imperial Star Destroyer, as I'm sure most of us know) use several million gallons of fuel in one minute during a fight.
But a soldier can't carry around huge batteries or millions of gallons of fuel to power their weapons. So what do they use instead? Small light weight cannisters that contain the ammunition needed to power their weapons for a reasonable amount of shots, power packs, ammunition cells, call them what you will they........ hang on I just realised, er where is it? A HA!!!
"Common blaster weapons use high-energy gas as ammunition, activated by a power cell and converted into plasma. The plasma is released from a magnetic bottle effect to fire through collimating components as a coherent energy bolt."
There is more but it doesn't regard the ammunition, mainly range, precision since that's not what we are discussing.
But see what I am getting at? Every weapon uses ammunition, the smaller ones need to have fresh ammunition loaded into them after a number of shots are fired.

So there should be reloading in FS because it's in the rest of the Star Wars universe, just because we don't see it all the time in the movies, it still happens.
