I'm trying to setup the editor in windows vista but it says i need direct x 9.0c or higher

vista is direct x 10...

Yea mapping is a PITA indeed. Took me like 8 months to get a good FS map completed and into testing... Which if I can get it polished up more might be in hte mod one day

Tell them your from Wal Mart, Best Buy, etc corporate buying offices and your kid wants the editor. Now. Or else, we buy no more. LOL. That will be the only thing that gets through.

Better yet, so to EA support and start a trouble ticket asking when the BF2142 editor will be released.

Get on the EA forums and start pestering them about an editor,get all your friends to do the same only pressure from fans will get them to release an editor.Im with you though on that front id love to make a few levels.

The last official mention of the 2142 editor (that I can find) was from Detrux (BFeditor site admin) who reported last November (2006) that Colin (EA Community mod manager) had said that the Editor would be out soon.

In the past year, EA/DICE community involvement with the Battlefield series has slowy waned. The last EA/DICE sponsored community event was the 2142 dogtag challenge several months ago, and the EA Battlefield websites have not been updated since. I can't even remember when the last Battlefield newsletter came out. Although EA has not made any official statement of the Battlfield game series, all indications are that DICE will finish up development with the 1.4 patch. At this point, the only chance for the 2142 editor is if it was finally released with the official 1.4 patch. But I doubt it, based on EA's lack of interest in continuing modding support.

yeah same, after playing just the sp mini mod I wanted to start making maps, but unfortunately EA and DICE are real money loving b*****s that don't give a hoot about the community that want more than plain 2142, regardless of how good it is, it is nothing compared to the awesome power of First Strike. Maybe one day in the future, it might be easier to make mods and maps for 2142, but for now we'll just have to sit on the bench awaiting maps that the pros make

Yeah, I can tell you from first hand experience over the last two days trying, it's a bigger PITA than almost anyone is going to want to go through. I tried everything and then tried some more (the 'Leviathon' workaround, other peoples ideas in bf2editors.org forums, etc) but it's just way too much to have to learn. It's really sad that EA works this way, as this would be a mod that I would love to be making maps for.

Oh well, I guess we just keep posting the crap out of the forums with map ideas. LOL

Yea but UnCo is never around anymore so I bug GuyBrush instead nowadays.

But thats not for you people... only I can bug the devs to help me!
