Try turning view distance up too 100%. I have heard some other people have problems when their view distance is not set to 100%

When I have everything set to medium I can see them. I tried changing some settings to see if I could improve performance, however now I can't see the laser tracers. I went back and set effects to medium it didn't help. Lighting...didn't help. Dynamic lighting...it didn't help. So which specific setting is it? Or is it a combination of settings? BTW...I can only say this about ground maps...haven't tried any space battles after changing settings.
