If it does conflict the devs will either A) make a hotfix real quick to update the mod to 1.4 compatibility or B) Aim the next full release at being compatible with 1.4.

Beta patches will most likely never be supported by the mod though.

If and when the 1.4 patch is released for 2142 how will it effect First Strike? Will we need to install it, wait for another FS patch, or just leave 1.25 on our machine? Or will it matter at all?
