You can of course have an app or whatever that monitors servers and records score information. 1942 vets should know what I'm talking about. With something like that, which is completely dissociated from the actual game, it still keeps the friendly environment that seems to go along with non-ranked games, and it makes number jockeys happy. Oh, I remember the good old days when you could go into a random DC server and just chill with total strangers who were just having fun. I don't actually know how those sites worked, but I would assume that they just gather stats in the same way that something like All Seeing Eye would gather server info.

No ranks/stats other than end of the round ones.

There is. You get a medal in the end, if you end up playing good round.

I think there needs to be some sort of reward for your points, even if its just a running taly of your global score its still nice to be able to see it.

I've earned enough ranks over the last three years to last me another seven.. >_<
Although its nice to see a pretty icon by your name, it just promotes stat padding and such.
If you want to add unlockables, maybe add medals and ribbons for feats such as 5 kills in one grenade explosion... which will give you an extra grenade to carry when you spawn or something of the like... I dunno. *shrugs*

No permanent stats are needed, but I would like to see the end of round stats with my preferred weapon, accuracy etc.

I say no ranking system unless......

Unless it's something that EA does with their regular ranking system. In other words, if EA at some point says that they are open to the idea of adding the mods to the ranking stats, then fine. Otherwise, if it's a standalone ranking system that is apart from the basic 2142 rankings, then no. The only reason I would say yes, if it were part of the official rankings is, then it would draw a ton of players.

In my opinion, the rankings have mostly increased players interest right at first, but once we all get to a certain level (got all the unlocks) then "who cares". The down side to rankings are more cheaters/stat padders and fewer people that will play mods ("cause mods are unranked").

i totally agree, no stats for this! what made me bored of 2142 was the stats and how i felt i couldnt do fun stuff with high risks of getting killed cuz i would get a bad K/D

No more ranks, stats, etc. Lets keep it fun and team based, please. I'd hate to see FS become the mess that vanilla 2142 is. Quite frankly I just enjoy being in the SW universe and trying to win the round. Last thing I want to see is spawn campers, stat padders, cheaters, hackers etc.

No, no and no. Keep it out. For once since 1942 i prefer relaxed and teamplay-based games. Since ranking was introduced in BF2 the whole BF series felt changed to me, though it was better for those who are concerned about earning pictures (medals) with no value. I played 2142 to unlock weapons, because they left me no choice.

On the other hand, ranking systems encourage people to play BF more often, though it also makes them obsessed in some cases to become the number 1 in every field, often acting in a careless attitude towards others, all because of those damn numbers.

I tell you, playing unranked, everybody being the same, everything unlocked and without the pressure of having a good K/D ratio makes it alot more relaxed for you, offering you the chance to enjoy the game itself, not another contest.

Though i'm sure, there will always be players who disagree, but i'd guess they are far more hardcore gamers then i am.
