this idea because I think it is amazing! But the idea reminded me of an old Star Wars Game...I foget what it was...it wasnt the X-Wing/Tie-Fighter series. It was the series where you were either on foot or vehical and you would use a joy-stick to aim a little red X and fire there. There is no moving your character or anything...its hard to explain but anywho...

Opponents = faction attacking station
Inhabitants = faction withing and defending the station

Its quiet...and the rebels/impire just stumbled across an asteroid field...the rebels/impire just found an abandoned station implanted on an asteroid. They go inside to find it very elaborate; there are 2 (or more) levels and long corridors with the occasional huge room used for various purposes (the barracks, hanger, briefing room, etc). They decide to station there for its convinient loaction close to an outpost of the enemy. They have few fighters and one damaged shuttle, but they think they can wait for more squads to come and secure the base. They also find turrets fully funtional but dont realize that they are going to be needing it...their false sense of security is going to bite them in the rear...

Unexpectantly, a fleet of rebel/imperial fighters and transports just drop out of hyperspace! They see that the rebels/impire claimed the station they have found long before the current inhabitants. Fighters spill out of the cap ships and transports make their way to the station's hanger to claim their station. The only thing posing a threat is the fact that the station is littered with turrets, but these can be easily destroyed because of their lack of powerful shields. They see that the very few rebel/imperial fighters are so pityful...that they see them as target practice...let the battle begin...

Ok, so heres the set up: There will be asteroids floating around aimlessly and danerously, varying in size and shape, but they are destroyable so you can lessen the danger, even if by a little bit. At the center, there will be a huge asteroid holding an abandoned station (but one of the factions are going to spawn inside of it of course). The way Im picturing the station is like this...

Lots of corridors with the occasional huge rooms and stuff and bridges made of glass (so you can see the fighters out side; I think this would give an awsome feel to it and a star warsy feel). Command posts will be scattered throughout the station in areas of vital systems (security, life support, medical supplies, armory etc). It would be made up of two levels, and each level containing a few glass bridges leading to various parts of the station. There will be turrets that you can man (as well as auto-turrets) from withing to fend off the opposing fighters. The auto-turrets can be destroyed (though very difficult) or disabled from within. And sense the manual turrets have such low armor, they can be repaired. There will be a hanger somewhere in the station, thought it will contain only a few star ships whose soul purpose is to defend the hanger/station and stop boarding parties...yes I said boarding parties...

The other fleet will have bombers...why bombers? There isnt going to be anything to bomb! Ah ah ah my friend...theres still the matter of the asteroids...and the station its self....There are going to be destroyable sections of the station that can be blown to bits! Mind you, not the entire station can, but only a few parts that contain spawn points for whoever the inhabitants are. Now, why do that? And how is this going to work out or be set up? Well, the bombers would attack that part of the station (EXTERNALLY ) and try to blow up the particular part. That part is going to be guarded with turrets and auto-turrets, but its going to be difficult. One the section is destroyed, that room will not be accessible; meaning you wont be able to spawn there or even enter that area due to lack of oxygen, so there are going to be blast doors shutting off the area. Obviously, if the landing party captured that spawn point, the bombers wont have to destroy that part.

Finally, boarding parties will get on a transport/shuttle and try to land in hanger. Once they land in the hanger, they can capture that command post and render the small squad of fighters for the inhabitants useless (blow them up).

Victory conditions: inhabitants of base dimmenish opponents points/opponent dimmenishes inhabitants' points or take over the base

I personally love this idea (like I said, I could of swore somebody already posted it...) and it brings back memories of the old Star Wars games....

PS: I think there are a couple of things I left out...I dont know, but I will post them if I remember...

Oh, almost forgot...

Map Name: Asteroid Station (names for asteroid belts or belts belonging to planets?)
Planet: (See "Map Name")
Ground/Space: Ground/Space
Weather/Lighting: Dark outside (obviously) but a bright grey and lots of light coming from station and flood lights on station exterior
Layout Diagram: (see description; will soon get sketch)

Map description: See description
Gameplay Description: see description
Vehicles: TIE fighters, intercepters, bombers, shuttles (if they are inhabitants, they will have few fighters and intercepters) A-Wings, Y-Wings, X-Wings, B-Wings (if they are inhabitants, they will have few X-Wings and Y-Wings); Manual Turrets
Extra notes: Fleets: Home One/Star Destroyers (tentative), Blockade Runners, other cap. ships and battle cruisers will be used for the opponent, but not many though. The interior of the station will be brightly lit (think of the interior of Kamino's cloning facility); flood/spot lights implanted on exterior of station, pointing every whichway
