I like Halo, Halo is fun. Halo beats alot of Console FPS soundly.

Halo 2 I bought and liked alot even if the ending levels weren't so great. I never personally owned Xbox live so I never got to play online when I wanted to so it never matered if alot of people liked it or not. I had mostly girl friends in High School and Halo was not one of the things that interested them.

Yes I'll admit it, HALO IS OVER-HYPED, anyone with 1000/1000 vision can see that! Still, for me Halo has its merits and no one can convince me otherwise or convinced me to believe that. It is a simple game which for one reason or another got huge market penetration and became a cultural phenomenon more so than 95% of all video games have.

In the end the original Halo got major points and fan bases BEFORE it was a cultural phenomenon.  So it obviously appeals to people for some reason.

I ask this question so often about soooooo many things, now I ask it about halo. Do you think its great because it realy is or because everyone says it is? (im not expecting any answers btw, retorical question)

I never said that all people who think halo isn't good and voice their opinion are bitching. People are allowed to voice their likes and dislikes, but you wont hear me yelling how great Halo is or complaining about how much I disliked Red Faction 2 given every chance(which I hated, but thats due to it having no relevance to Red Faction 1 and an incredibly sub par Geo-Mod not to the game itself which was good enough for me to rent and play through once).

The difference between your interpretation of my words and how I meant them is the simple ability to say that a game doesn't suit you but that you can see it suit many others.

Different Strokes, different blokes

On top of the fact that Halo is very solid as a FPS in regards to controls, weapons, and vehicles Halo beats Battlefield solidly on two fronts; Game modes (and the customization of them) and casual/living room appeal.

The game modes are an incredible on-up, you can Race you can do your standard death match you can do Team Death Match (very similar to Conquest), Territory (this is Conquest), CTF, Juggarnaught <--- hella fun on both sides, and more soo many more thanks to customization.

Living Room Appeal is something that might or might not matter to others. Its the ability to call over a bunch of friends look them in the face, laugh with them, drink with them, and just have fun socializing over a nice game of Halo.

Yes, this only works if you like Halo to begin with, but you know what? Most people who HATE (yes there is a difference between HATE and 'its a good game but I don't see all the hype') either

A. Believes 100% computer supremecy with FPS
B. Is a hard-core Strategy type, no concessions!

and not having them in the community is not a bad thing , aka I don't want the n00b I killed with the needler saying "OMG I Would have f*ing killed you if I had a mouse, damn these controlls suck, I f*ing hate the controller" and continues to play two more rounds.

Halo is good, definately overhyped, but it is a solid game. If you dont like it I don't care. Stop bitching and don't play it, simple huh? I'll still have 4 million+ people to play with and I can still be able to enjoy playing BF when I want to too!

Halo 1 and 2 multiplayer is VERY good. Its a nice blend between Run and Gun and though many people doubt this, yes strategy!

Halo's gameplay is no more base than Battlefield's is. I mean BF2 is trash imo compared to Halo 1 & 2. But in anycase they are two differnent games aimed at different purposes.

Battlefield 2142/FS/1942/FH/Veitnam= Ramboing thats not so kick pie but made better due to a layer of teamwork.

I quite happily admit that Halo on PC, have and love (No multiplayer, I have battlefield for that) Halo on XBox, lodda Sh** controls are so slow on consoles, Halo 2 on XBox, was is and will always be a complete wast of time, (not just because of the controls) Halo 2 on PC, also a wast of time and money, (WTF is the use of making it a Vista only game but not using dx9, so then people hack it onto xp just months after release?) Halo 3.... XBox......   .............   .............
     
Is good? Strangely enough, the controls don't feel sluggish, the repetitiveness is gone (unless you die and have to do the same bit again over and over and over *raises hand*) It just doesn't get boring. You feel sometimes like your doing the same thing over and over, but then stuff happens to break the monotone. "Tank beats Hunter...... Tank beats Ghost......... Tank beats Wraith!........ Tank beats EVERYTHING!!"  Plus running into a room to see a man curled in the corner blathering to himslef is funny, or was that because of the glitch that made the gun that was supposed to be pointed at his head disappear?

Admittedly it can be tedious at times, but it is a very fun, occasionally funny game.

I love halo, single and multiplayer, BF might have more weapons, vehicles, and such, but halo just feels more open ended imo.
