I fail to see how it'd be awesome at all, except as some special gameplay feature like the rather neat civilian in Project Reality. But it'd be a ton of work for just a map or two.

Maybe instead of deploying a droid, you could deploy an Ewok, which'd hunt down Imperials and whack them with pointy sticks, distracting them while you take their control points . Or maybe not.
