Guys, the turning circle debate is somethnig we've been having pre release for a few months. Unfortunatly theres no way of modding this in due to engine limitations. If you consider all of the vehicles in bf2/bf2142, the faster you go = tighter turning circle. There isn't an opposite, and we haven't been able to produce a slow speed = tighter turning circle.

The endless spinning is mainly due to either:

1. You've fired too early and let the enemy know he's behind you, in which case its your own fault.
2. You fired and missed your target, thats poor aim on your end.

Hint. The enemy is going to spin around for another 10/15 seconds. Simply accelerate away from your target and do a 180 spin and try firing at him again.

On a pro server, the spinning is reduced massively because spinning is a piss poor tactic. Anyone who spins near me dies in the next 20 seconds as I simply boost away from him, and circle around and fire another (accurate) burst at him.

As a hint, we do have an asteroid field map coming up
Well, if you consider a mere 6000+ asteroids a field. I suppose some of you may only consider that a tiny little patch on a space scale.

Signore wrote:

I'd like to see more space maps with static Objects in like a Asteriod feild ect. So you can maneuver around them ect

I would agree with that. Although my preference will always be for land maps I think that a space map with plenty of asteroids would be good. As an example I had been thinking that the Kessel Run might be a good idea for such a map. Similar to Escape from Hoth the imps would have to stop a certain percentage of reb fighters (not large ships or transports) from getting to a hyperspace "jump point" (the story would revolve around the rebs needing a certain amount of Glitterstim spice vials for something or other). In the rebs way would be a large asteroid field populated by plenty of depth charge style mines, auto defenses and of course large numbers of imps. Hopefully include a decrease in space map size by reducing play boundries. The outcome of this I feel would be an extremely intense space map that would test and improve everyones flying skills. Adding a few large asteroids that are big enough to fly through as well would be good, it'd make for some great "stunt vids".

When I get into a looping situation, I usually give it two go-arounds to see if I can squeeze off a shot. If the enemy pilot is any good at all, I won't be able to, and I do something else instead.

1) If I'm near a capital ship I will throw my fighter into a loop around that and then break away from my pursuer, and then turn back. Sometimes the guy chasing me has even run into the cap ship, failing to make a manoeuvrer to avoid it.

2) I'll pick out a friendly craft also involved in a dogfight nearby and tail that instead. A lot of the time, the ship chasing me will get involved in that dogfight, and things will get muddled. I can either run off to find another target, or turn around and try to pull in behind the mess I created.

3) I just pull away at an odd angle and juke left and right a lot with the rudders, if I'm in a faster ship.

-----

There's lots of stuff you can do, but the main thing is to just get a stealthy and solid kill in the first place. Going head-on is just plain dumb unless you are in a firepower monster like the B-Wing.

instead, while you're still out of visual range with the approaching enemy fighter, you can rudder off to the side, and many times they won't adjust course or notice you. Then, you can watch them whizz past, after another target, and silently pull in behind them. Just gauge yourself to a reasonable distance to the enemy and let loose with a continuous burst of lasers until he explodes.

well, in a looping fight, its easy enough not to get shot if you want to, but it also makes it impossible if you a bomber to get anything, and soon more and more fighters get on your tail and after 3 minutes you finally die without getting a single thing done
