Ok I solved the issue! It was windows vista DEP. You can switch it off by going to command prompt and typing this "bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff" Then reboot your pc, and now it should be working. If you want to switch it back on again "bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn"

I have done both
Just tried uninstall, registry cleanup, re download and reinstall. Didn't work :S

It just happens straight after I double click the icon. EA have told me to do weird stuff like start a new admin log on and then uninstall it from old one and start again on the new one.

BF2142pace.exe is the exe file of the EA link 2142 version

When exactly are you getting this error? It sometimes appears to happen randomly (even on 2142 maps, although its the chance of surviving flying through an astroid belt with TIEs on yoru tail ), in FS especially on ground maps.

Try deleting the Mydocuments/2142 folder or just the Mydocuments/2142/mods/firststrike/cache/ folder.

bf2142Pace.exe? is that some special vista file?
seeing as i have never heard of this error before. when does it happen. when you start 2142 of after runngin it for some time.
i probaly cant fix this with saying: install latest vid drivers.
but it worked for a friend of mine. has the same vid card and vista. got mayor lag on endor. installed latest driver and had about 70 fps

I know this isn't a problem with First Strike itself but EA are no help whatsoever and I haven't been able to find a solution so far. I have tried all the compatability options under the sun so its not UAC or Administrator issues. The game did work for several weeks before it stopped working. Please help! I can't wait to try First Strike, been waiting what seems like forever and now BF2142 is buggered!
