Well...since all the comments about SWG are negative...it is time for me to chip in with my carebear or fanboi perspective.

I still play SWG.  I started shortly before the CU in Dec. 2004. 
There are alot of things i missed from the pre cu days.  But if you give it some time, get into a good guild on a decently populated server, the game is still alot of fun.    PVP can get quite intensive at times.
The one thing they havent nerfed all to hell yet is space.  It is still the same JTL experience from when I started.
To tell the truth, since they brought in a new dev team, they have recovered alright from the pile of crap that was the NGE.

Now don't get me wrong, it is no longer the same game as back in the day.  But it still has good points.  And my biggest reason for playing is the guild im in.  These folkes are probably THE best group of people i have played ANY game with.
Anyway...that's just my $0.02

Obvious only to those players who have tried it after the JTL expansion and CU. If you go back and actually READ my whole post, you'll see I haven't been in SWG since 2003 which is before the JTL expansion, thank you, that's all.

I bought it right after it came out and loved it, much more than WoW, and then I just stopped playing. And yes, the Jedi ruined the game. It was supposed to be all 'secular', with no Jedi, Sith, Force powers or anything. Then the Jedi-lovers whined and the devs agreed to add Jedi for some few players. It'd be a long and difficult process, and you'd not know if you were Jedi potential until some way into the game. Only dedicated players could become Jedi. The Jedi lovers whined some more and the devs made it so that everyone could become a Jedi. Then they whined even more and now apparently you can become a Jedi in no time flat (or could you always?).

Lesson for FS devs: Give them an inch and they take a mile.

Agreed that Jedi ruined the me, but game.   However, the system for jedi was in from the start.  The game was doomed from design to have a Jedi as an Alpha class, and that just does not work in a MMO or any multiplayer game for that matter.

Oh and to the guy who loved his dewback, you can get them in the enew system which is MUCH more complex and indepth then the old creature handler system.  I think a teal or pink dewback would look cooler tho :-P

The NGE was basically a mutilation of the game, removing about 75% or so of the game (classes, animations, replaced combat system etc.) in order to "streamline" the game and be able to balance it / get patches out quicker.

Today we sit here with about 3 or less publishes a year, most of which are drained of interest before they even leave Test Center and balance is appaling.

My last day I proceeded to say goodbye to my trusted companion, he was such a cute baby. Then went into the cantina and got completely trashed.

anyone do the rebel mission? *cough* I mean the never ending 4000 mission long rebel mission? I had thought the jabba missions were long, HA boy was I wrong. I hate the fact you can become a jedi in no time at all now, it used to be an extremely hard and long task, I mean it would right? you can't become a jedi overnight, oh wait now you can tho....lame! LAME! =pure crap!

Recently I tried to be open minded about the game and try the 14 day trial to see just how much it has been overhauled.

Much to my surprise SWG is by far the most ruined mmorpg out there. It was even more devasting to see what SOE did to it after all this time than all the nerfs they imposed back in 2003 which prompted me to leave.

Oh well was hoping it wasn't that bad to start back up playing but after a little time with it in one day I realize there is no hope for this title.
