Allright, solved it myself.

It's not a visual glitch that's causing the stuttering, It's some specific problem with the sound on this map. I happen to disable EAX and the X-FI boost, by surprise all the stuttering is gone now. I'll write an email to devs if possible, could be a problem with the ambient sounds.

/E: Ok I definetly located the source of the problem, the stuttering is not related to EAX, but only to the Ultra High Sound settings that can be achieved in combination with activating the X-FI option.

Hi there, I was really glad to have my VGA back from an RMA at Gainward last week.

With them being unable to return my 7900GT they sent me an 8800GTS instead. I felt really excited about finally playing First Strike on my system, then I experienced very strange performance issues on the Mos Espa map. The Frame Rate is jumping up and down constantly, when I turn into a specific direction it seems to drop almost to zero. Strangest thing about it is , however, If I just keep looking into that direction for at least some seconds and I don't move the player nor the mouse it rapidly stabilizes at around 70fps again. Now, if i just turn the view a littel bit, even half a degree or move the player it suddenly drops down to almost zero again.

I have reasons to believe that it might not be my system to cause those sudden performance drops, I did however wonder about no "fog of war" being on this map, like there is on any other map in battlefield and firststrike. Maybe it's some specific mapping issue?

My system specs@Windows XP :
Core 2 Duo E6600
2gb of dual Channel Ram
Gainward 8800GTS
Sounblaster X-FI Xtreme Music

Help would be appreciated

greetings from Germany
