i removed the Nvidia 169.09beta and now it starts without problems!

before crashing, the only things i changed are:
the patch (now 1.40)
nvidia drivers (now 169.09beta)

maybe i should try to downgrade nvidia drivers

would have said: check PB version. but im not sure if the 1.4 patch updates it.
also you said the game wont start at all. that does mean you cant even get to the login screen?

the order i installed just a few days ago (sorry re-install - long story) was BF2142 1.1 - then 1.25 - then 1.40 (not beta obviously) then FS 1.0 - FS1.1 you might find some servers could be funny having modified content but i find that going to community in the option menu and activating either BF2142 or FS and restarting the game helps alot. I had a few issues in the beginning but now I can play either with no problems.

This is the order I installed everything and FS works fine
1.1
1.25
First Strike
First Strike v 1.1
1.4

I'm not saying this is the required order but it's what worked for me.

i followed the message in FS website (FS compatible with patch 1.4), i installed the official 1.4 update, but now the game wont start at all, just some loading and then crash-to-desktop.

I have the same problem, i DL FS and the complete 1.4 patch and the same thing happens. Even when i try to load a local server the game crashes. Same with SP and multi is no servers. It also says that i have a modified version and it doesnt work.

you will have to wait to play fs until the new patch comes out. you shouldn't have to wait long. dont uninstall fs though.

I downloaded the update v.1.40 when it wansn't a BETA version and it says that i have modified content so i cant play. does any1 know y??

click on th advanced tab in multiplayer and just select same mod.

single player only works with the single player mod. the sticky for this in in the general discussion

And BF2142 says its Version 1.25 btw...

I had the same Problem, then reinstalled BF2142 and installed Patch 1.25. Started the Game, it shows me no Servers in Multiplayer and creating a local Server just crashs the game to desktop. My BF2142 runs fine, just not FirstStrike.

Any ideas ?
