Taloraan - TIE Bombers carry Proton Torpedoes standard, Ion Blaster on pressing F-key
Escape from Hoth - TIE Bombers carry Ion Blast Missiles standard, redirects Ion Missiles downward on pressing F-key

That's cool! TIE Bombers can launch their missles on approach, and keep on blasting as they fly by...

Actually, you both might be right... according to the manual Tie Bombers carry a complement of "Proton Bombs / Proton Torpedoes / Ion Blast Missiles (Map Dependant)".

But you say you didn't see that on the other map... maybe it depends on the map size too? 64-player vs 16-player?

I'm gonna go mess with Multiplayer > Local > Create, see if there really are map-dependent TIE weapons... bbs!

im pretty sure it would be change weapon. you can use it to change infantry guns

Ions are blue. They make this special electrical sound when fired.

And what ships own the ion cannons ?

Y-Wing (turret, hit 'F' to change to ion cannons), TIE Bomber, and I think the B-Wing.

Do those ion cannons have a different color or not?

And what ships own the ion cannons ? Ywing / Bwing & Tie bomber or more? And can you get hit by 'Hoths Ion cannon ??'

For those of us who've remapped all our keys, could someone tell me: If you went into configuration and found the "F" key in the pilot controls... to which description would it map? Weapon 2? Alt-Fire? Which key description should I map so I can use ion cannons?

Yes, the B-wing has 100 shots of ion goodness useable with the "F" key. Its good for keeping capitol ships going slow or stopping so those torpedoes/missles hit their mark.

I use them in tandem. I slow a ship down--fire 4 missles, then back to ions, then 4 more missles, etc. repeat.
