Still doesn't work right. I get big white boxes around everything I select and there are still items not available to me. Guess I gotta do it the hard way .

Thanks for the feeback. I have only tested it in XP, but will look into how to set up shortcuts for Vista.

In XP, my target setting for a desktop shortcut for my link is:

"c:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2Editor.exe" +loadmod BF2142

This tool requires that you have BF2 installed. I will have to do some testing to see if its possible to get the BF2 editor to work in the BF2142 mod. If I could figure out how to get it to work, it would be easy to set up an installer.

I created a tool to make it easy to setup FirstStrike for use with the BF2 editor

Download and run this tool to setup the BF2 editor to handle First Strike

Let me know if you have any problems or if I am missing anything.

It sets up FirstStrike as a mod in your Battlefield 2 folder with all the required files unzipped.

It also extracts all the FirstStrike maps and and creates an editor folder in each one. I tried to copy the GPO file into the editor folder, but it does not work for all maps, yet.

It also checks that BF2, BF2142, BF2editor, and FirstStrike are all installed, and quits if they aren't with a warning message.

It reads the registry to determine where your BF2, BF2142 and BF2editor are installed.

It creates a desktop shortcut that starts the BF2editor loading the FirstStrike mod.

It does not remove the read only attribute from the files yet.
