I have it in D drive myself and it works just fine.

maybe you could put it in your c: drive and try that if its possible.. i dunno if it would work or not but you culd try that..

also i tried uninstalling and re-installing the drive itself and that didn't help at all either

oh yea and the exact error message i get is after it sits with the 2142 little pop up window before the game opens it says "Please insert the battlefield 2142 install disc in the drive and click ok to retry"

unchecked, and checked options are 95, 98, NT, and 2000

right click on the 2142 icon then click the compatability tab see if the compatability box is checked or unchecked

abit gd-8 mobo
pentium 4 2.8 ghz processor
2 gigs of ram
sapphire x1600 256mb
sound blaster audigy 24 bit sound card and my cd drive is my D drive....
and if you wouldn't mind explaining exactly how to change my compatability mode i will do it....also i do have gamedrive running but i use the actual disc for this game cuz it is the dvd version not the cd version...

are you by any chance using Daemon tools, or any other virtual drives? try disabling them. as in no more virtual drives.
also YASU is also know to cause this problem.

Nah that's not it when i had the problem it wouldn't work, then i switched to vista (which does suck for games) using the same disk and it worked

Alright, maybe you could give us a little more info...

- Could you please list your system specs?
- Do you have a special sound card?
- Is your CD drive not the usual Drive D:?
- What's the exact error message you get?
- And like the others suggested, have you tried running in a different compatibility mode?

nope, I don't have it running on any compatibility mode. I've never had any issues like that.. maybe his disk is scratched.. you could check and see if there is any scratches on it
