lol...i was a boarding expert in GC. I know how hard it is to board a moving ship. One thing that really tested that was the fact that i used a joystick. For a long time if i tried to board by the escape pod, i would instantly fall off. (i solved that later on...) But until i fixed that problem, i had to fly toward a tiny hole in the side of a moving ship, then jump out at a high speed and fly into it. I managed to do it quite well. Remember, capital ships aren't ridiculously fast, so it is possible to get onto them when they are in motion, its just a little harder to get on to them than a fixed spot like a space station.

By the way...this isnt about the ship's motion and sticky surfaces, remember? It's about ship destruction effects. O.o

Anyways, i would ignore decompression, thats going abit too far. So far the thing im constantly thinking about is in an open-environment ship, where you can walk around inside, being able to have pieces of the ship blown off, even in the walk-around area. It would be quite interesting to be loitering around in one of your ships, and you fall under attack, you would see damage be done from the inside, because things would blow up and fall off, to the point where the ship is full of holes and you can see where the damage has been done. (in my case, you could jump out of those holes. XD)

Im sure you've been told allready but ships with interiors would have to be locked in place or everyone inside would get flung all around the place.

Actually, you do know there were ship interiors in this mod's predecessor, GC, right? Mainly the thing im talking about is capital ships, nothing smaller. (if there were a breach in a small ship or transport it would most likely be destroyed.) But there was one issue with this in transports (Falcon, Shuttle, etc.) in GC where if you were out of a seat and walking around while it was in flight, you could be run over/flung outside a solid wall in mid-flight. I talked to a dev about this and he said that they may apply a sticky surface to the transports when they are added to the game to prevent this.

(I cant confirm anything because i am not a dev, but it could be possible in a later update.)

What i was thinking was mainly like empire at war: You shoot a ship enough (meaning more than simply one missile, some pieces could be that weak though, such as turrets.) and a chunk of it, maybe just a random piece, maybe something functional comes off. The main thing i would find exciting is having it when the explorable insides of ships are functional. Imagine walking around inside a ship while its getting shot at, you're walking down a hall, and BAM, a piece of the wall/floor/ceiling breaks off and floats away right before you, while the ship is being bombarded by another ship. It would be amazing to see. I also like the idea of the chunks floating and staying as debris, that could be a cool part of gameplay as well.
