NO, depending which version you have 1.25 or 1.40, you have to go on the specific server.
1.25client=/=1.40server
1.40client=/=1.25server

I've been on for more than an hour and NOT A SINGLE PERSON HAS BEEN ACTIVE. I thought this was a popular mod? Surely players would start playing now, right???

Am I supposed to download the 1.4 patch? Will that allow me to play both 1.25 and 1.4 servers??!!

Yeah there's a little weirdness going on right now since there's a 1.4 patch out for 2142 that all the servers need to update to.

There will be a FS patch release in a little while that will fix that for good, and in the meantime the players should start trickling back onto the few servers compatible with 2142 1.4

Okay so I did what you said. It worked, but NOBODY IS PLAYING. 14 available servers and ZERO players.

1.25 is the 2142 patch. you can get either one (2142 1.25 or 1.40) and fs will still work depending on which server you get onto.. for example: try the dsgaming.net 1.40 land or space server if you have the 1.40

Most Servers do run PunkBuster, what you should see is as follows (if you have all the right boxes checked and nothing shows up, click Update List). If you're running 1.25 and not 1.4 you'll see a lot more servers.

Ah, I think you are looking in the wrong menu. Select Multiplayer, and there will be 3 tabs there just above where the servers are usually listed, you'll want to select 'Advanced' then you will see all the filtering options for server browsing. Deselect everything but Same Mod and Same version and hit update.

As for that message saying there is a new version out, thats probably the dice community news thing, telling you the 1.40 patch is out. The mod supports it, but most of the FS servers havent made the switch yet, so you are fine for now with the 1.25 patch

This basically sums up my situation.

Open First Strike, games load, says there is an available patch even though everything is patched fine (unless there is 1.2 patch that I am unaware of..), login, update servers....NOTHING. No servers shows up. My original thought was that nobody played the mod, after all this game was released almost 2 years ago.

So I uninstalled the game. Today I was searching for popular 2142 mods, and first strike came up. I thought nobody played this, but decided to check out the site anyways. It seems this mod is quite popular, even establishing a relationship with the creators of 2142...DICE.

I reinstalled it again, with the hopes of the game working...but no.

I don't know what this advanced options is. I go to options in-game and there is no tab for advanced. When the game opens there is a mini-window that says advanced options but that only links to readme and "upgrade."

I used to play Galactic Conquest and loved it. I'm really hoping this will work out!!!

Apologies for the mechanics, I'm really really tired.
