Just out of curiosity, do anyone actually use those cliffs east of Mos Espa city for anything? I see untapped potential, and today used a speeder bike to get up on the relatively plateau with a mortar. I found that most shots tended to fall just short of the Slave Quarters, though, so I don't think I'll do that again. I haven't tried taking a rocket launcher or sniper rifle yet.

I imagine that for the Rebels, putting a team up on the cliffs could provide a great ambush/early warning potential. You can see Imperials bound for the Slave Quarters from a mile away, and as they don't expect attack from the cliffs, they're less likely to notice you before you open fire.

Edit: The cliffs are only accessible on the 64 player map.
